A bargain considering they can make their money back on releasing a new Star Wars trilogy alone, as mentioned by a poster earlier.
it will take them at least 4 movies to make that money back(maybe more). Not really a bargain. That price sounds about right.

Yes, it was only budget constraints and a stand out performance from Harrison Ford that saved star wars from being ****.

In the second trilogy lucas ran rampant with the cheque book and ****ed it up big time

Just proving that George lucas is an accidental genius who doesn't understand his own creation

You're forgetting all the Star Wars merchandise and what not that brings in a hefty dollar; big market right there alone.

Eh, the only Star Wars installment worth noting is The Empire Strikes Back and it's because the screenplay was written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan, the direction was by Irvin Kirshner, and Gary Kurtz was the producer.

Read this article talking about how Kurtz rips on the prequel trilogy: http://herocomplex.latimes.com/2010/...ary-kurtz-wer/

You do realise with each new film release paves the way for an entire new line of merchandise, video game, DVD plus Blu-Ray sales and other ventures.

Each movie release should profit a billion in its own right. Now throw in the rights to Indiana Jones and you have yourself a bargain if played right.

The films still cost money to make and the studio only gets about 25% of the box office, DVD sales etc.

Lucas was worth $3.3bil before this deal so making back $4bil will take a while.

I wonder if Mark Hamill will finally get to make another big film now after 30 years.

I did take that into consideration when I made that post. I also took into consideration the $300+ mill it will take to make each movie.

Lucas made $7 billion in over 30 years of the franchise(including Indiana Jones), and you expect Disney to make $4 Billion with just 1 movie? not gonna happen.

but what makes you think disneys goin to do to make them better films? in my opinion disney is just goin to water down the action and make it more family freindly.
