It wasn't about smarts, he is so chinny that the first connecting shot just took him out. His style is wrong for his strenghts you got a point there. But even if he didn't have false confidence that he is a puncher (from fighting bums and crap trainer) and didn't go in an dout like Pacqiaou, he still would have got knocked out eventually. It really was just a matter of time. Being a stand back boxer like Morales would have suited him better. But boxing from the outside would never protect that chin to a world title.
