His words might've carried more weight if he wasn't a politician (former senator) himself, most likely from an opposing party.

But I do agree that Manny should resign, so he can focus on beating Floyd comes May 5th.
You mean focus on getting his ass-whipped by Mayweather.

Screw the 1%, they're only trying to keep the 99% down. We should occupy something to protest against the 1%

                      Wow. Just wow.

I'm amazed at the naivety displayed by some of the posts here. Manny Pacquiao is an incredible boxer, a HOF and ATG no doubt. But that doesn't mean he's a good politician. Sure he's a sign of hope for many young Filipinos out there; that comes with his position as a sporting role-model. But are you seriously suggesting that he would make for an effective governor? a senator? or God-forbid, a president?!

Here's a man who has no formal education, a man accused of womanising; immature, wasteful gambling and now non-performance in his constituency. Pacquiao, even by many of his fan's accounts, has taken little initiative over his own career and his boxing promoter has an iron grip over him. This type of passive behaviour is not a quality you would expect to find in an effective politician. Nor is signing multiple, conflicting contracts worth millions of dollars.

I understand that corruption is probably rife in Filipino politics, but trust me, Pacquiao is not the answer. The answer lies in the young, upcoming educated Filipinos who have strong principles and are willing to devote themselves to bettering their country.

But yes, if Pac wants to become seriously involved in politics, he needs to devote himself to it exclusively, which means retiring from boxing.
