Also, cmon, jumping from cruiserweight to heavyweight is a bigger jump than welterweight to LMW
It was Light heavyweight to Heavyweight.

you agreed to the other guy about ruiz-jones being a legit heavyweight championship fight which I agree on. jones won, doesn't that make him a legit heavyweight champ? in your opinion why didn't Roy defend his belt there?

I think you should read the overall gist of his point. You need to think a little more critically here. But to answer your question, because he would've gotten his butt kicked.

A)The difference is Mr Jones didn't ask Mr Ruiz to come in at a catch weight. And Ruiz was a legitimate belt holder. Unlike Margarito who has no notable wins over any fighters at 154 pounds.

B)Size difference between Jones and Lewis is far more significant that Martinez-Pac man

You will have to do better than this to defend the Pac man.

joking tone of this post shows that all responses shouldn't be serious, but damn if they aren't

So thats the difference right there. Manny Pacquiao has found a way to make John Ruiz appear to be a more legitimate champion and Ruiz vs. Jones to be a legit hw championship fight. Congrats manny, thanks for helping ruin boxing.
who cares? Ruiz was a small heavyweight and obviously no one considered him thee heavyweight champion of the world.

that doens't take anything away from roy jones, what roy jones did, moving up in weight, defeating ruiz, was impressive, but no one considered jones the heavyweight champion of the world. Same goes for pacquiao, beating a bigger margarito the way he did was impressive, but no one is considering pacquao the best jr MW of the world nor should he be expected to continue to campaign at a weight class clearly he has no business in.

that's my point. It's unrealistic to think pac should continue fighting at 154 pounds. He's honestly maxed out at 147 pounds, he consistently weighs in well bell the welterweight maximum weight and rehydrates only a pound or two, while just about everyone else in teh division rehydrates 10-15 pounds or more.

For the same reasons Pac Man will not: He didn't want to get his butt kicked.

This catchweight belt was just a top rank ploy to give Pacquio a cheap ride to "history".

To look at this any other way is purely...****riding.
