now that the Mexican government has stepped up their efforts to combat the cartels it's gotten bloodier and they are making record profits as well.. (it might be because of the bad economy? drugs sell in times of hardship)
40 billion dollar industry isn't just going to disappear though, especially when you have people all over the world demanding the product.
