When I found out Hatton was sparring Lara, I was pretty damn shocked. Lara is a Junior Middleweight, and he's an excellent prospect. It doesn't surprise me one bit that he beat up on Hatton in sparring.

who said gamboa would be ranked top 10 pound 4 pound? I said at least two, my money is on Lara & Rigondeaux, and possibly gamboa.

Summary from a poster on another forum...

"He said when he first walked in the gym and mayweather looked at him he said mayweather was saying that lara was just a kid and he was going against a lion. Once i got in the ring it was all business and i almost ko'd him. they stopped the fight in round 7. Even after that bout he was supposed to come for more sparring sessions but the hatton camp requested for him not to come back because he was hitting "too hard" lara also stated that as far as he was aware he was just hitting him pretty average and wasnt trying to harm hatton, he was basically sparring the same way he always does. He said he never really felt any pressure from hatton during the session"

You're absolutely right. Granted, I consider Lara to be pretty solid, but I never previously thought that he was quite on Hatton's level... shows what I know. All that aside, It's such a shame considering what (I believe) Hatton could have been. I hate to say it but I can't see Hatton getting it together at this point anymore, he's abused his body far too much, against the advice of both of his trainers. I don't think that would have been the case if he hadn't [I]felt[I] invincible for the better part of his career. Oh well, he had a good run, and I'm sure he's enjoyed himself.

Ask Rashad Halloway. Im sure Manny was stunned by Rashad many times in sparring but there lies the difference. If Lara would have hurt Pacman in sparring, the more Pacman would want to spar with him, instead of letting him go.
