  • Young European Heavyweights

People are focused on that ridiculous fight between Holyfield and Valuev, but on that same card, some other heavyweights were more impressive:

6'5" Italian Francesco Pianeta, age 24, now 18-0. He looks to be improving, winning a UD against a very good opponent yeaterday. His last three opponents were 17-0, 18-2-1, and 18-0.

Ukrainian Oleg Platov, age 25, dominated his American opponent Jason Gavern, knocking him down in the 6th round, on the way to a dominant UD.

Some people constantly whine about the "state of the heavyweight division" but there seems to be no shortage of young heavyweight talent in Europe!

    David Haye
    Alexander Povetkin
    Denis Boytsov
    age 22
    Alexander Dimitrenko
    Andrzej Wawrzyk
    age 21
    Ondrej Pala
    Taras *****ko

The division is not in as bad shape as the American media would have you believe!

I saw Pianeta against Gammer and he looked terrible in that fight. Gammer was doing well with just one hand after suffering an injury. Pianeta will lose to any decent fighter imo.

Why do you dislike white fighters so much, Davros?

I knew even before I read your post it would be a negative comment about one of the boxers I mentioned, your hatred is easily predictable.

I guess people tend to dismiss sports if their own countries are not represented or engaged in the sport. For example, in Russia not many care about basketball, baseball, or american footbal.

In USA, not many people care about boxing, chess, soccer. If you ask a random Russian about the quality of basketball, he would tell you it sucks....

isnt Povetkin almost 30? Hes one of my favorite heavyweights right now, but thats not exactly young.

Not impressed with Platov, was robbed against Danny Williams.
              Havent seen the Italian.
Dimitrenko is fun to watch, defensively bad but offensively powerful.
Im still keeping up on Boytsov, hope the best for him.

but well never hear about a few of these guys ever again.
