Don Bradman. He was so good a batsman that he caused the England cricket team to invent a new form of almost-but-not-quite-cheating to overcome him. And he still averaged over a half century per innings in the series.
Career test average of just shy of a hundred runs per innings. The greatest achievement of any sportsman in any sport.
