Say what you want about the film itself being a historically inaccurate Hollywood bastardization of actual events (and I did in a separate thread weeks ago), but Daniel Day Lewis had one hell of a challenge in taking on the role of a (rightly or wrongly) beloved historical figure like Lincoln.
The fact that he managed to paint a convincing portrait of a man whose accent, mannerisms, vocal pattern, and idiosyncrasies are largely unknown is an achievement in and of itself.
