It's funny you say that, when I worked at McDonalds as a teenager, when they put you on fries you're supposed to take the salt thingy and "make an ARCH" with it, that being the proper technique for fry salting.
I used to just dump it on there, and after work one day my boss had a "serious talk" with me about my fry salting technique and why I wasn't using the arch method. Needless to say my professional career went downhill from there on out. lol
