I certianly don't remember this being so common twenty or thirty years ago. It seems like today so many fighters don't know their best fighting weight anymore. I think the networks pressure fighters who have made weight but opponents haven't alot like when Escobedo was threatening too pull out off the Broner fight HBO apparently laid a few threats down if he did pull out and then incentivised him if he did fight
