On Saturday night, there was no shortage of boxing luminaries inside of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada for Lucas Matthysse’s crushing first-round knockout over Mike Dallas Jr.

Such notables in the building included former champions Zab Judah and Shane Mosley, junior welterweight contender Karim Mayfield, former WBO female super bantamweight champion Ana Julaton, junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo, rising lightweight Sharif Bogere, and former two-division titlist Jorge Linares.

Striking a conversation with Linares, I quickly discovered that much has changed with the Venezuelan-born prizefighter's career. [Click Here To Read More]

why did Gamboa trash Salas? I though he's a good trainer for him and since they parted ways, Gamboa is fighting like garbage and no longer fights with the same flow and quick combinations

He parted ways with him to go train with Manny Steward last year...

IMO one of Gamboa's biggest mistakes.

While i don't like the constant switches Jorge is making with trainers, after leaving Roach he went back too Sendai Tanaka in Japan,Salas as you say is a very good trainer and Jorge seems too prefer training in the US compared too Tokyo so really hoping that this switch gets him back on track

I gotta feeling that Salas can teach Linares some defensive skills that he was lacking with Roach where attack was on the menu pretty much all the time. Linares needs to improve his stamina as well as he was winning the fight vs DeMarco but gassed out, the cuts didnt help either

He is doing a great job with Jack Culcay right very good offensively and defensively. At 27 Jorge still has plenty off time so hopefully Salas can get Linares too operate too his best
