  • Comments Thread For: Adamek vs. Cunningham II Carries Title Fight Implications

The rematch between Tomasz Adamek and Steve Cunningham already stood out for a number of reasons. In addition to the fight being a rematch to their Dec. ’08 war, it also serves as the first live fight card to air on NBC in more than eight years, and perhaps the most significant bout to air on the network in over two decades.

Their first fight was for the lineal cruiserweight championship, in which Adamek rode three knockdowns en route to a split decision. The sequel takes place one division north at heavyweight, headlining a Saturday matinee at the Sands Resort Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

My god the IBF rankings are awful, just f'ing awful, if the winner of this fight (specifically looking at USS) gets to fight for the #1 spot next.

This fight isn't on the specialty NBC Sports channel, it will be on the regular NBC network.

Jennings-Topou is on the NBC Sports channel but not on the NBC network channels.

I have watched their first fight several times and I don't recall Adamek ever being knocked down. So, I believe that a mistake has been made.

If Cunningham beats Adamek and then Pulev he'd be the most deserving of a shot at Wlad, and if Adamek beats Cunningham and then Pulev he'd be the most deserving. Haye, Chisora, Solis, Arreola, Wach, Mormeck, Price, Fury etc. would all have done less in the last 2 years.

The winner should fight Pulev next.

You are correct and I have fixed the error in my report. Thanks for mentioning it, not sure why I always thought Adamek was dropped early in that fight.
