I know the UFC has been known to add wins to fighters records

2 recent examples that come to mind

1. Jon Fitch, going into the St. Pierre fight in the promos the UFC claimed Fitch had a record of 21-2. yet other sites had him at 17-2.

2. Rashad Evans before the fight vs Lyoto Machida in the hype videos the UFC claimed he had 18 wins. Yet other sites (s-dog for one) says he has only 13 wins

I've always wondered why the UFC did this, but now I see it again with the TUF fighters

take James McSweeney ... who fought last week for Team Rashad

the UFC lists his record as 12-4 .. looks pretty respectable http://www.ufc.com/JamesMcSweeney


yet other sites have him more in the 500. sub 500. range

**I just want to know why the UFC would change a record that drastically, and more importantly do the fighters know about this.

I wonder what McSweeney feels about being listed at 12-4, when he isn't even close.

to a certain extent I feel its disrespectful to the fighters to get their records wrong by that many fights.

I have no idea. I saw them do it with guys that were on TUF and just figured they were counting their wins on the show.

Machida was touted at 13-0 when he fought Rashad.

If Im not mistaken, all the guys on TUF 10, this is their 1st time in the UFC.
But they have fought in other organizations.
TUF fights count as exhibitions.

On The Ultimate Fighter show, McSweeney's record showed as 3-3 (sherdog has him at 3-4)

I think if a lot of these guys are fighting on local shows etc., it comes down to who's reporting the record deciding if the fight was sanctioned legitimately.

I know a guy that fights around here who does LFC shows and those events show up on sherdog, but he might fight 2 or 3 other fights in the meantime that aren't considered "official", but he can tell you his record, provide the opponent name and venue.

I think as more states recognize MMA and sanction the bouts, the less exhibitions/unsanctioned fights will happen and then it will be easier to keep track of

If you look at Brock Lesnars record, his first fight is listed as unverified.
The UFC doesn't even list his pro debut, just his 4-1 record

People who fight and actually know how to (ie,boxers) will know where I am coming from. This conspiracy is further proof that UFC has no credibility and is a nothing but a sick joke.
