  • Comments Thread For: Bailey-Alexander 9/8 Showtime Bill Still Without A Home

With less than a month ago, the September 8 Showtime doubleheader is still in search of a home.

The show’s headliner is a welterweight title fight between recently crowned titlist Randall Bailey and top contender Devon Alexander. The instructions from Bailey’s camp of “anywhere but St. Louis” – Alexander’s hometown - have proven problematic.

San Antonio joins Memphis as major American cities unable to house the event, after having been prematurely announced as the leading candidate. A deal was thought to be in place, but would have required the Showtime televised date moved back two weeks to September 22.

They should do it in Mississippi, where Berto fought Zaveck.

Not a bad idea. Biloxi is probably available. Something needs to be done soon though.

Just do it in St. Louis, FFS. It's not like Bailey has a chance to win by decision, his only chance is a KO victory and St. Louis will bring in the most $$$. But I'm sure Bailey's team will object to fighting in his opponent's turf.

Great idea. This card would work anywhere in the south.

Put it in Chicago. Good enough drive for the people from St.Louis and a reasonable fight town.

Stack it with local talent on the undercard and maybe even more people show up.

Ah, the B(ert)eau Rivage. At this point, the card is in need of casino money. Otherwise, we're looking at yet another Golden Boy show where more tickets are comped than sold

Thats whats going to end up happening. The closer it gets to fight night GBP will panic. St. Louis will sell out with less promtion and thats all GBP cares about. All Bailey has is his title. Hes not bringing anything else to the table so sooner or later he will fold.
