  • Year of the upset? Which one has been the biggest in 2011?

These are just some of the fights i could remember but there is probably more worthy of being talked about too

    Kirkland - Ishida
    Lemieux - Rubio
    Khan - Peterson
    DeGale - Groves
    Berto - Ortiz

What has been the biggest upset to far this year?

Nothing beats Ishida-Kirkland this year. Nobody had him winning... absolutely winning.
He was brought there as a sacrifice... and he crucified Kirkland.

true, but I think when you take into consideration kirkland was fresh out of a two year prison stint and overweight, it's less shocking than Peterson beating a champion in Khan, imo.

Ishida/Kirkland..i watched some of Ishida's other fights and i still cant comprehend how he did what he did to Kirkland..especially considering what what just happened in the Angulo fight.

It's between Ishida-Kirkland and Berto-Ortiz. I'm not sure which one yet.

            I'm probably leaning on Berto-Ortiz.

Precisely. I think SOME people said that Ishida was a bit better than people were giving him credit for, but I don't think anybody went out on a limb and said, "Ishida is going to win!"

              Ishida...unknown...over thirty...light-puncher...knocked down his opponent three times...won by first round TKO...against a high-profile, undefeated fighter...who is a power puncher.

If that's not upset of the year, I don't know what is.

Amen... I was at the fight and I had hyped up Kirkland to my brother. When he came out and got tko'd I was flabbergasted. "WTF just happened??"

Berto was the favorite to win.

                    Also, does Molina-Cintron count?
