  • UFC flawed rules, Machida vs. Rampage

what you saw in Machida vs. Shogun 1 was exactly what you saw in Machida vs. Rampage

In Machida vs. Shogun 1, Shogun clearly did more damage to Machida and really was pushing the pace in the latter part of the fight.

    Lyoto won by unanimous decision.

In Machida vs. Rampage, Rampage was the aggressor in the first two rounds.
then in round 3 Lyoto dominated rampage.

    Rampage won split decision 2-1

I'll explain why they won those fights..

Shogun in their first fight with machida clearly did more damage. He beat up Lyoto connecting with punches and his famous kicks

BUT. Machida edged the first 3 rounds, very closely. after round 3 Shogun decided to push the pace. and dominated Lyoto though out round 4 and 5.

at the end of the fight Machida was beat up. yet he won.

and unto the Machida vs. Rampage fight,

Rampage was the aggressor the first two rounds. but neither of them were doing anything real drastic. So in the judges eyes Rampage pushed the pace of the first 2 rounds, so they had Rampage 10-9 against machida on the 2 rounds. Then machida decided to do something and exploded with strikes and attempted some beautiful BJJ on rampage. Lyoto clearly beat rampage up more in the only round with real action which was the 3rd and final round.

at the end of the fight, Rampage was clearly dominated.
    Yet he won.

The explaination is within the crappy rules of the UFC.

it doesn't matter how much you beat the crap out of the other guy if your opponent already has won most of the rounds.

    Machida closely won rounds 1-3

so that's why he won. It didn't matter if Shogun beat him up because shogun only won 2 rounds.

the same goes for Machida vs. Rampage,

Rampage won rounds 1 and 2 for just pushing the pace, but clearly nothing drastic happened. It doesn't matter if Lyoto beats him up in the last round because Lyoto only won 1 round.

    The rules should be changed.

Machida won the fight, but lost the match because of a poorly constructed scoring system.
same goes for Shogun in their first match with Machida.
