  • Overrated & underrated power

Which boxers of today do you thinks power is overrated? And which underrated? Preferable give a reason why!

    Overrated - Angulo!
Slow, poor technique, couldn't knock a vvank out tbf

Canelo - More undetermined tbh, what guy his own size has he stopped?

    Underrated!
Darren Barker - Good technique, precision puncher, spiteful puncher IMO

Floyd - Same as above. Very good power at the lower weights, think he still has plenty at the higher weights and enough to command respect.
    Fast, accurate sharpshooter.

Would add Marquez but I think now people realise, timing is everything.

Timing beats speed. Timing beats power. Timing is everything not just in boxing but in life in general.

Rigondeaux - he's defensive and appears to have solid power, he's still untested against an elite opponent and has a suspect chin yet he's made out to be an elite beast

Floyd - Resume above 135 oozes of cherry picking, carefully selected opponents. only fought 3-4 times since 2007 yet he's still the #1 P4P.

Canelo - he has literally done nothing but beat oversized or over matched opponents. His title is a complete joke.

Broner - Beat Perez got a gift against PDL, failed to make weight against Escobedo. Beat up a good lightweight and he's placed in the top 5 or 6 P4Ps? above Mares, Froch, Guerrero etc. He's the definition of overrated.

    Underrated -

Marquez - One of the best combination punchers of all time. Even better than Joe Louis (who I hold in high regard), He' still regarded as a top P4P even at almost 40. His status when compared to other fighters comes off as underrated to me. Infact all Floyd's fan base know him for is losing a UD to Floyd. That's it, that's his entire career to them. IMO his legacy is underrated.. All every says is he's slow, he's never had defense, power, or that he's flat footed. Mainly because they've only seen fights he had when he was in his mid to late 30's People forget he was young at one point

Castillo - since he's still fighting i'll include him, although he may not be much currently. His legacy gets underrated, I still consider him the greatest LW since Whitaker.

Mares - He's beaten top opponent after top opponent, yet all people talk about are the low blows. He's not even in the top 10 P4P's despite fighters with weaker resumes like Broner being in the top 5.

Guerrero - If you've followed him for a while you'll know how capable and skilled he really is. He's the type of fighter that can compete with anyone. If he's out gunned, or they're faster he'll adjust even if it's going outside of his comfort zone which we don't see alot of fighters do.

Froch - Despite a lose to Ward he's still a top fighter and should be in the top 10 P4P's

floyd never had power even at 130. do people even watch his fights? almost all his stoppages there were corner stoppages. when you are hitting a guy over and over and are unable to get him out of there you don't have much power.

Canelo - all HBO talks about is his amazing mystical power..... but it's always against smaller fighters some of which he couldn't even put away

Garcia - Knocking out a fighter that had his best days SFW and below, and another that has a suspect chin doesn't = a monster puncher. His power is an illusion.

            Underrated

            Mikey Garcia
            - Patient precious puncher, Won't be surprised if he stops Salido

Salido - His overhand right doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Floyd - Floyd's power gets underrated, specially in the heavier weights he did hurt Mosley, and almost stopped Cotto. He might not be a monster puncher but his precise punching and counter punching garner respectable power

              Timing doesn't beat ANYTHING

Timing would never beat Prime Jones, Timing would never beat prime Ali, Timing would never beat prime Tyson.

Timing can beat glass chins and old manny pacquiao though
