49ers’ Frank Gore to Accompany Boxer Nonito Donaire to Ring: Fan’s Take

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore will have an interesting training camp this year. While he's still the clear No. 1 option for the team, second-year back Kendall Hunter, recent draft selection LaMichael James, and world champion Brandon Jacobs will definitely challenge him for carries during the regular season. Although there are still a couple of months before the start of the season, Gore has and will participate in plenty of activities in the coming months.
One of these interesting activities Gore will take part in on Saturday, July 7 takes place in a boxing ring. According to a report from maxboxing.com, Gore will be at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California and appear on the HBO boxing event at 7:00 p.m. PT in support of San Leandro boxer Nonito Donaire, who is currently the WBO super bantamweight champion. Gore will hold Donaire's belt to the ring in the WBO and IBF super bantamweight title unification fight against Jeffrey Mathebula (26-3-2, 14 KOs).
Donaire is no slouch as he is tied with Andre Ward as the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in CSNBayArea.com's Northern California rankings. Possessing a 28-1-0 professional record with 18 knockouts, the 122-pound fighter has had a relationship with the 217-pound Gore since they started training together with speed coach Remi Korchemny, who runs the Speed Development Center, about six weeks ago.
While it's no surprise that Donaire has a posse for his major fight in Southern California, it is interesting to see Gore accompany the Bay Area-based fighter to the ring. Given all the competition he will have this season at the running back position, Gore's training routine with Donaire and Korchemny may be exactly what fuels him to another successful season for the 49ers. If the workouts are helping him get into better playing shape, Gore will have a better chance at staying healthy for the entire grueling season.

New trend? All fighters are going to have a celebrity accompany them to the ring. Floyd should come out with the Call me Maybe girl and 50 Cent and they can do a duet with Triple H holding his belts.
