  • Comments Thread For: Oner Will Push For Solis To Become a Mandatory to Klitschko

Promoter Ahmet Oner of Arena Box will push for his boxer, heavyweight Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12KOs), to become the mandatory challenger to one of the Klitschko brothers within twelve months. In March of 2011, Solis was stopped in the first round after badly injuring his knee in a title fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. Solis finally comes back, after months of rehab, on May 19th against Konstantin Airich in Pharr, Texas. He hopes to get a rematch with Vitali very soon.

Even if he did look at it this way, so did Don King for years and Solis is still the most talented fighter in the division not named Klit. Make it happen!

Why doesn't Solis prove himself first, show that he's not a fat slob who'll fall over and hurt himself as soon as he feels Klitschko breathe on him? Then maybe he'll deserve to be mandatory, instead of just making a lot of noise.

I know the heavyweight scene is weak right now, but Solis turned up to the biggest fight of his career so out of shape that his knees buckled under his own weight.

It is you, Oner, and your boxer that need to display a grain of professional honour.

Who does Oner think he is? Who told him his name holds weight in the promotion business? He has to depend on Top Rank to promote his Cuban fights gtfo...

He wasn't "so" out of shape. That was the lightest he was in 3 years so you can't say the guy didn't try to get in shape.

airlich is top 15 in WBC(holds wbc regional belt)so a win will get him in the picture but wach(WBC international title), arreola, welliver( 3 WBC regional titles) & stiverne(#1 wbc silver belt & 2 other regional titles)are all in line & ranked higher then airlich so solis may have to wait or fight one of those 4 guys. welliver has been trying to land a big fight but doesn't seem to be able to get one. he has a good following in the south pacific regionals like australia, NZLD & china. welliver has also talked about wanting a rematch with solis. he was 290lbs that fight & has now dropped down to under 240. solis needs a couple of wins to get a shot. he should beat airlich with little difficulty & then i'd target either a welliver rematch or a fight with stiverne. stiverne looked rusty & slow his last outing vs herring who is a journeyman at best.
