  • Maia vs Condit

What a great striker vs Grappler match up and a real head ache if you're betting on this one . Im going with Maia on a five fight win streak and knowing he needs to finish on the ground to avoid getting k.o d by rnd 4 . Maia the best pure grappling submission artist and Condit actually DID lose to Lawler and needs to have a Maia mistake to win i think.......

Maia by sub rnd 3 .

Eh. Not excited about this fight at all after a few months of some good main events. I think Maia is one of my least favorite UFC guys. He's gone the distance in 13 of his last 17 fights ffs. He's a highly skilled guy don't get me wrong, but even as a cat who's been a UFC fan since the renting VHS tapes days I still am not a huge fan of the pure grapplers like Maia.

That said I am excited about the rest of the main card. Paige returns with her sexy ass in a fight that should be competitive, Lauzon vs Jim Miller should be fun as those guys usually put in good work regardless if they win or lose & I'm curious to see if Anthony Pettis can get rid of the Wheaties box curse finally after a year & a half of losing after looking like a superstar in the making to get on the cereal box.

I 'like the way hes (Maia ) is winning with simple grappling fundamentals ...hes old School who has the abilities to apply the techniques with the new age /new rules . He showing that a great grappler will almost always beat a great striker even with the stand up rules enforced and 5 min . rnds .... i look forward to see how he approaches the dangerous Condit .

Well it was Maia by sub, but in round 1. My first full Maia fight or maybe second and I have to say, that was a damn impressive finish.

Sad to see Condit go out like that. Maia is just a beast on the ground. He definitely deserves the title shot after Woodley and Wonderboy fight.

Good to see Pettis winning again. I would love to see him in there against McGregor and Aldo. I have a feeling Pettis fights Holloway next for the title shot. I think Edgar would be a tough fight for him.

i couldn't believe pettis won. holloway seems the logical next fight for pettis. pettis is in tough again in that one.
