  • When 50 Cent talked about Gamboa fighting Mayweather...

people laughed at 50 Cent because of the so-called weight difference. The fact of the matter is, however, that there is no significant weight difference. Gamboa is 148 and Mayweather is about 150. Now, Gamboa wouldn't be competitive with Mayweather anyway but just thought I'd throw this out there - the fight would be possible and weight wouldn't be an issue. That said, Gamboa rehydrating 18lbs is simply ridiculous. For a man of his size I'm not sure how safe that is to be honest.

Gamboa still fights at 130, the weight he takes off and regains is not essential weight. He does the hydration proccess exactly right. He could still make 126 if he wanted to fight there.

Floyd probably couldn't even get down to 140...the actual size difference is huge. Same way as Chavez may be 190 on fight night, he couldn't fight at cruiser.

So you're saying Gamboa is more hydrated than Floyd when he fights because I highly doubt that. Floyd is just a fighter who doesn't want to dry up. Floyd could get down to 140 if he wanted.

I'm saying the weight Gamboa puts back on overnight isn't essential weight, Floyd at 147 is at his perfect fight weight. Gamboa's perfect fight weight is about 135. That other weight is water weight and little else.

Gamboa is much smaller than Mayweather. The fact that he can get to 130 easily without looking even remotely drained shows the size difference.

As I said, on fight night Chavez Jr is a cruiserweight, but he certainoy couldn't fight there as it's artificial weight he regains.
