  • what qualifies a fight as a SUPER fight??

wa shaving a discusion with a friend and he brought up us going to cotto marg 2 in a week and said .." so this will be the biggest fight you have been to" .."most crowded super fight ?" and i said absolutely not as i have attend fights such as (pac marquez 3 ) (pac hatton) pavlik hopkins and dozens of other fights
he said well "mgm is small" only holding ab 16,000 max i think where teh garden holds 20k

imo tho attendance isnt what qualifies a superfight i think its more
media coverage ..espn ..24/7 ..type stuff
ppv numbers i would say around a million plus buys
to me as of right now there cant be a super fight that does not have floyd or pac participating in it

imo i have only been to two superfights pac hatton and pac marquez 3
but in other ppls opinons those arent even supper fights ?
    and cotto marg 2s? bigger?

i need other peoples opinions on this

The last bonified superfight IMO was Oscar-Tito.

Floyd-Pacman is the only one that can be made currently. Although being Pacman just got a gift & a boxing lesson from a lightweight, I'm not even sure that it can be considered a superfight anymore.

Two very popular fighters in the same division who seem to be equally matched and seem to be unbeatable.

Some do say that, but not me. Oscar won that fight & Quartey was rather lucky the fight wasn't stopped & that was a 10-8 round for Oscar either way.

Ohh by the way, Oscar-Bazooka Ike was a contest between 2 elite welterweights both undifeated. Not a lightweight 9-1 underdog schooling the supposed #1 pfp fighter, 2 weight classes north of his current max fighting weight.

Schaeffer said it was a fight that they estimate would make at least a million buys. OR that might have been a mega fight?

Superfights are when immensely popular boxers get in the ring together. Obviously Pacquiao-Mayweather, but also if Klitschko vs. Klitschko ever happened.

Skill and record don't mean much, it's all about popularity. It would be a superfight if Alvarez and Chavez fought, because Mexico would go crazy.
