  • is naazim richardson a former boxer?

I saw an intervieww here he said he boxed as an amateur but i dont see anything online about him ever having boxed in his native philly. no one there has been on record saying they knew him to fight or had seen him. do you think if someone asked him he'd be the type of guy to try to be evasive about it like its this big secret. any of you all no his background as a boxer?

Being an amateur boxer is not that hard

Not every amateur boxer has an article on him, especially for guy who is 50 and was an amateur boxer in the 80's

I believe he was an amateur boxer probably nothing special though. Almost anyone in philly from that time tried to box.

dude def. strikes me as the type who if you asked him would be real evasive about it. ask dude his record and i bet he wouldnt say it. and wouldnt say anyone he fought or name any tournaments. i think its a way to hide his lack of accomplishemtn. just my impressions

lol really? i see him as being the exact opposite. . . not really caring and just keeping it 100% real. . .

im sure he's boxed himself before in the ammy's. . .

that's a pretty weird thing to say.

Besides you don't need to have been a fantastic fighter to make a great trainer. Usually that's how it is in fact. Mediocre fighters who didn't have much if any careers turn out to be the best trainers.

When he said he "boxed" you misunderstood. He used to work at a meat packing plant and literally placed packeged foods inside of boxes before they were shipped. Hope that helps.

No need to duck around the question if he's talking to someone who more than likely never has boxed before.

The only one that I can think of immediately, is Adam Booth. The Roach had a decent career as did both Mayweathers. Manny Steward was a top amateur champion for a number of years. Trinidad's father had a poor and short pro career.

Richardson doesn't seem to me to have had any sort of boxing career, especially with his training "techniques". Maybe a few amateur fights like Teddy Atlas (9) or maybe he was good. Who knows why doesn't someone ask him??
