Solid list but I'd change a few names

Holmes, Monzon and Lopez over say Jersey Joe, Marlon Starling, Miguel Lora, Hilario Zapata, Freddie Welsh, Canto etc etc ?, I say no. A lot of the names are so close though there's not much in it and it also depends on the qualities you take in (e.g there ability to fight out of the defense, footwork, flashiness etc etc), extremely hard to make an ATG list, the reason I gave up even trying to make them anymore, used to be fun now it's just frustrating.

Those top 5 were all wizards, especially PEP......... I wouldn't have Benitez so high but he had great defensive skills, but I'd put Conn and Moore above him..... I'd have Pep at #1. and Benny Leonard at #2.... And no Packey McFarland ???.. now there was an incredible defensive record....... it failed him only ONCE over 113 fight career.... he always seems to get overlooked.

I agree totally with that statement..... every time you think you are getting close..... you remember names like Abe Attell, Tommy Ryan, Johnny Kilbane, Jimmy Carter and guys like that. And then you have to start all over again..... LOL.

I couldn't have a best defensive fighters list without Freddie Welsh in it.

I feel you guys just the fact that I forgot to add the likes of Leonard or Sugar Leonard and all these guys who were relative unknown in the lower weight classes is why its so unbelievable difficult to make such a list just outta my head.

for me one thing is important.

greatness and greatness is timelss. you remember a fighter as such he was known for.

and Pep is the undisputed nr 1. the guy who won a round without throwing ****. (powerpunch)

or Pea who got robbed as illustraded

flameboyant Jack Johnson who carried his opponents just to somewhat enterain the people, first black champ.

all these guys and their backrounds, damn could take years of researching to do a credible list and it would be still subjective.
