Danny Williams sadly carries on fighting in places like Turkey (Britain won't give him a licence any more, as he's so shot to ****) and just gets beaten up constantly. He's completely gone, his chin is shot to Hell, he's getting smashed up by guys he'd have beaten in a round in his prime... and all so he can afford to put his kids through college. Kind of heartbreaking, really.

As for Calzaghe-Froch, while I'd never deny that Joe didn't always fight the best out there (obviously), it's a Fat Yankian myth that he "ducked" Froch. I think it's because Carl never stopped going on about it, and Yanks took him at his word because he's showed far more willingness to fight everyone.

But Slapsie retired in November 2008... at that time Froch's last opponent was a guy from Poland called Albert Rybacki. (Who? Exactly).

Froch had gone through the likes of a 36-year-old shot Robin Reid, or Sergey Tatevosyan (Who? Again, I don't know).

Although Carl wanted to step up, and fair credit, he'd done absolutely **** all with his career to warrant it at that time... certainly far, far less than James DeGale has done with his at this point.
A month after Calzaghe retired, he got a chance to fight for the vacant WBC against Jean Pascal (who was an unknown quantity at the time) and won, and from there went on to fight back-to-back quality opponents... but it was a HUGE step up from the opponents he had been facing. Just four fights before the Super Six he was battering a completely shot Reid on an early Saturday afternoon in a fight no one gave a **** about.

I don't normally defend Calzaghe's choice of opponents, but the "ducked Froch" is an NSB myth... he was still at domestic level when Calzaghe retired.

Oh, I haven't seen a lot of Brook, but I kind of feel he's wrong for Khan.

Pulling a Calzaghe? In what way?

Yeah, I joined a day after you... I logged on looking for somewhere I could see Jones-Tarver II.

I suppose I've wasted a lot of time since.

I don't suppose DeGale has done that much, sportwise or selling tickets wise.

I don't regard DeGale as a big threat, anyway.... he seems to need a second wind at the midway point.

    What say you?

I enjoyed them. The Herrera-Benevidez fight had it moments; the Bradley-Chaves fight wasn't bad and the Khan-Alexander fight was a good showcase of amir's speed and skillz.
