pearl jam. this is the first song i ever learned to play on the guitar. the basic idea behind the chords are as simple as it will get. whenever possible you want to endeavor to play entire songs, instead of the tempting rout of just playing snippets.

the guitar is a terrific instrument to get you started. i've played since i was about 10. i'd start with the basic chords. they'll become the building blocks for most of the music you're trying to play. if you can, i'd suggest having somebody show you the ropes, or take lessons if it's possible.
