yeah, i've talked to people who trained at gyms, they say it's a longer process to get everything going than people would expect. but yeah, i'm for sure going all out this winter in my basement and then by spring i should be joining an actual gym.
yeah, a lot of my friends that use to skate grew out of it cause they didn't like getting injured when they were just doing it for fun, and constantly buying stuff like decks, shoes, and trucks or whatever. now a days decks are like anywhere from 40-70 bucks, i remember 50 was always the highest back in the day. i'm going to get a new deck eventually but i'm not sure about trying to go out and skate during the winter. i remember doing that in my teen years and getting sick from time to time from the weather.
yeah, the 16th falls on a friday. some of the guys on the card have been in entertaining fights from what i remember. fonfara is headlining it, he fought glen johnson in his last fight on espn fnf.
i'm studying physics right now. i'm planning on getting a degree for it at the school i'm at right now and then transferring to another school to do either mechanical engineering or automotive engineering.
as for my heavy bag, i'm not too sure cause i never weighed it. when i first bought it i had it hung from the ceiling in my basement, and after a week or 2 of using it the piece screwed to the ceiling ripped off. i took some of the stuffing out. it's probably like 75-100 lbs if i had to say, not sure. i have enough room to use all of the stuff i have, but i just need to clean it up cause it's cluttered with my fam's boxes of random shit.
for sure man, i'm def planning on joining one. hopefully by the spring, cause right now i'm doing college full time, and i don't really have the time/money to pay monthly for a gym to head over to and use their gym. i have a speed bag, heavy bag, bench press, and treadmill in my basement, but i need to hang both the bags up first, and buy gloves for the heavy bag. have you had any amateur fights yet?
and i'll let you know about the ticket prices for the nov. 16th card. usually they're around 30 or so bucks. so have you been skating at all? and are you going to college or working?
dope, i have yet to sign up to a gym. i was thinking of hitting up the evanston boxing club cause that's the closest one. not sure if you know carlos molina, the guy who fought kirkland and got DQ'ed, but he trains at the la boxing gym. him and a couple other guys, like marty jakubowski (fought jcc sr 2x) and paul littleton (undefeated pro from lombard).
yeah, i mostly skated street spots around my neighborhood, so like ledges, stairs, pads, and gaps. i was really into rails before i quit (had my own flat bar that i skated for days) but never got a chance to go downtown and try a decent sized one (biggest handrail i ever hit was like a six stair). but some of my favorite pros are mark appleyard, jack curtin, dennis busenitz, chris cole (his dying to live part was my favorite), and paul rodriguez. guys like cory kennedy and mike mo are sick to watch too seeing what they'll come up with or pull out.
have you heard of david gonzalez? he's on flip. i just watched his newest part today. holy shit, i was blown away.
