I cannot recall Donaire ever taking a really solid shot on the chin, and if he did, it wasn't from anyone with the power of Montiel. I know he had a tougher than expected fight with Concepcion, mostly due to the fact Concepcion came in at 119 for a JBW fight. Still, I'm sure Donaire put on a 10+ pounds for that fight, so....
I think that's key though, he's never been hit by someone like Montiel, though I expect Donaire will be in the high 120s, if not low 130s, on fight night, so that'll help. But then again, Hasegawa in all likely hood was the same thing.
Donaire manages distance and sets traps really well, and his counters are so quick. If Montiel is going to close the gap on him, he's going to have to walk through fire in order to do so.
I think Donaire takes this one. Shame that they chose a ****ty ass venue, IMO.
