kiarostami's films definitely tend to be slow, but he's such a great director and keen observer of humanity that i'm willing to endure it (and i feel the same way about bela tarr, even if it took me about four sittings to get through
satantango).
taste of cherry is an exceptionally powerful film, imo; almost bergman-esque.
