For context to anyone interested, Wlad held Povektin 14 times in ROUND 1 of their fight alone Over half the amount Floyd held Pacquaio in 12rounds.
Then 11 times in round 2.

The two examples in the OP, Ali-Frazier and Wlad-Povektin are examples of actual excessive holding. And probably about 100 odd+ other examples that are more fitting than that fight where...

He fought like 2 ranked guys during that time period that's why and even those very few ranked guys he fought weren't close to elite.
