TC waited for Spence due to their rematch clause. Spence was the reason why the rematch didn't happen. This whole situation illustrates the existential struggle between Boxing as a business vs. a legitimate sport. The "Business" part of the equation normally wins out....Last edited by kiaba360; Today, 08:37 AM.

BOXXER is in need of fighters, and they do have Chelli and Simpson @168. However, Shalom probably won't want to take a risk on Richards either because he's under pressure to deliver the best product he can. Richards is in no man's land....

I think Kelly has looked decent at 154, but it's TC's purse demands that I'm most concerned about. If TC is looking for high 7 figures/low 8 figures, can Wasserman even afford him? Josh isn't necessarily a proven commodity in the UK, and TC doesn't have promotional backing. This isn't unique to Kelly....Last edited by kiaba360; Today, 02:19 AM.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

,,,and Berrio is also 30 months inactive. Mercado just fought on 2/24, so this is just another stay-busy....

If the WBO continues to be consistent, then Spence shouldn't even be an option. Josh Kelly and Erickson Lubin should be getting calls....El_Mero likes this.

The MW division is even worse than that: you have Eubank Jr. whose sole interest is fighting smaller men, and Liam Smith who's probably on his way out. No disrespect intended, but Nathan Heaney is legitimately a highlight of the division lol...

Just watched the on-demand replay. Never seen Pierce before, but he definitely has some skill/talent. The lesson to take away from this fight: always respect your opponent. Pierce clearly had the athleticism advantage, but he was getting reckless. Villanueva had enough experience to capitalize and had...Last edited by kiaba360; Yesterday, 11:33 PM.edpboxing likes this.

Judging by his out-boxer style and his career so far, he's not gonna get any match-up worth a damn. He made the mistake of overestimating his value to MR, and then received a reality check. I don't foresee any big promoter wanting to seriously invest in him....Last edited by kiaba360; Yesterday, 11:21 PM.

And I'm sure Team Fundora will do what's in his best financial interest. If dropping the WBO title is the right move financially, that's what they will do. Easy come, easy go. This is just another example of the Business of Boxing clashing with the Sporting structure that holds it together.

It could get very ugly, but this is probably Barroso's last opportunity to get a title. He has to accept the challenge....

He had enough time to fight Teixeira and Brook in 2020. This may be his last opportunity to get a 154lb title, but would he be willing to face someone like Josh Kelly if Tszyu isn't available? TC will need to be more flexible with his asking price....Combat Talk Radio likes this.

But Canelo/Benavidez is WBC related drama. I'm pointing out that the WBO's behavior is actually consistent with their history and their rules. I mentioned Inoue because he and Crawford were both granted an immediate title shot by the WBO once they moved up. They're applying some public pressure on Fundora...Last edited by kiaba360; Yesterday, 04:33 PM.Goatintheboat likes this.

This is one benefit of going down the WBO path. I'm pretty sure other sanctioning bodies have their own version of this, but WBO is pretty consistent. A titlist asks to be installed as mandatory for the weight above them, and the WBO will usually grant it....Combat Talk Radio likes this.

It's the same scenario as Inoue moving up in weight and getting a direct shot at Fulton....greeneye99 Combat Talk Radio like this.

For sure. Cruz is such a dangerous match-up for Barroso. Cruz won't give him time to think, and he won't give Barroso the necessary space to throw big punches. As weird as it may sound, a victory for Barroso may put him in FOTY contention....

Fundora went from being one of the most active fighters on the PBC roster, to getting KO'ed into inactivity. That's how bad that loss was....Combat Talk Radio likes this.

Even-though I agree...I don't think we can apply this line of thinking to this particular scenario. The same can be said about Fundora: He got stopped by Mendoza, was inactive for 51 weeks, then lucks into a unification match. Well....why can't Spence also get some preferential treatment? Not saying...Last edited by kiaba360; Yesterday, 02:30 PM.Goatintheboat Combat Talk Radio like this.

Sampson has pulled this tactic before. If Crawford was as vulnerable as Andrade, he wouldn't hesitate to match Fundora with him....James Hunt likes this.
