Yeah I read about that unfortunate news yesterday. They said he had bile duct cancer I think and he was 74. I remember seeing the flyers for the doors of the 21st century at Congress theater when I was there seeing Primus in 2011. Was rooting for Matthysse. As far as Argentine fighters goes, Martinez has still accomplished more and has had a better career but I think Matthysse has lots of potential to surpass him soon enough, especially since Matthysse is only 30 and has a number of years left. If he beats Garcia, he'll definitely deserve Fighter of the Year. Right now the only Mayweather fight I'm salivating over is one against Matthysse. Any other fight at 140-147 would just be a mismatch.

I ended up giving Martinez, 1,2,3,5,7,11,12. So a draw if you include both knockouts. Hopefully the hand and knee were the main problems and he comes back fine.

I'd like to see Martinez-Golovkin next. It's too bad Murray seems to have turned down the Chavez fight because Murray could have won and prevented the Chavez rematch. I wouldn't mind a Murray-Martinez rematch just so we have a clearer conclusion, but I rather see something fresh and I'm not a fan of Murray's peak a boo style.

I'd like to see him back with Gabriel Sarmiento though. They should work out whatever they have between them. Only time Sergio looked great with Pablo out of 4 fights was against Chavez. I don't think Pablo has ever told Martinez anything useful in the corner. There's a fight Adrian Broner had against Fernando Quintero where most people thought Broner got a gift. Recently I found out that Gabriel trained Quintero for that fight. Can't just be a coincidence. Gabriel must be good at what he does.
