I've taken my vFF through some rough trails and they seem to hold up great. But everyone's walking pattern is different so they might wear out faster for some people. If your going to try them I recommend the VFF sprints. They are great for beginners.
These shoes are amazing but I don't run in them. I use then for walking strength training. If you do want to running them, you have to start really, really slow or you will get hurt.
