Cloud will wind up fighting for chump change, likely against Clinton Woods, for the vacant belt. If Cloud wins, there is no defense for him worth nearly what a Dawson fight would have paid him and no guaranteed spot on HBO. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

For Adrian Diaconu:
Light heavyweight titlist Chad Dawson just rolls with the punches. An opponent change on less than two weeks' notice? No big deal.
Dawson (24-0, 16 KOs) was supposed to face mandatory challenger Adrian Diaconu in his second defense. But Diaconu withdrew with a hand injury, clearing the way for slugger Epifanio Mendoza (28-4-1, 24 KOs) to step into the main event at Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on Saturday night (10 ET/PT, Showtime free preview weekend).
