    Redundant in the negative gets used to mean useless or ineffective, as opposed to extra or surplus to requirement.

    Although when you use it like that is sounds correct but it depends on what the person is trying to say.

    So I looked around to see what the alternate meaning of "redundant" was and did not find much success. So I decided to go to the source who initially informed me that it is also used incorrectly. What's the original meaning?
