  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Promoter, Manager at Odds Over Contract

Last week an article by Michael Woods ran on The Sweet Science in which Gary Hyde, manager of WBA/WBO champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, said that he believes Caribe Promotions' promotional contract with Rigondeaux ran out in July when co-promoter Top Rank's contract expired.

BoxingScene.com recently spoke with Jared Lopez, who is a partner at the Black, Srebnick, Kornspan & Stumpf, P.A. law firm in Miami, Florida and represents Caribe. Lopez feels that Hyde should know better than make statements which he deemed to be completely false.

This is sad. You can't get far in boxing unless you have the right promoters and the right tv networks behind you, even if you are a world champion.

Rigo is a superb boxer but the masses finds him boring.

No big network i sgoing to pay them what his managers think he is worth especially without a following.

On top of that he is not young so time is not on his side

So if they can't get the other titleholders to fight him, he's not going to fight anybody. Sounds like a great plan.

Both caribe and Hyde , are not getting rigondeaux any fight , any network . They should step aside so Rigo can sign with any other promoter , adviser .
Roc nation offered 1.8 mill for 3 fights , warren offered 1.8 for 3 fights and caribe didn't agree .
If rigo wasn't attached to any of them , al Haymon would have signed him already .
Rigo esta embarcao con esta gente , esta Frito .

Hit and not be hit .

What a shame. This dispute is hindering Rigo's career. It's bad enough that the industry has attempted to diminish your brand. Keep winning Rigo.

Only dumb casual fans think El Chacal is 'boring'. Besides, he KO'd his last opponent. It seems more like hate mixed with some racism, that has increased after he schooled Donaire.

Age isn't a factor, he looks pretty fresh to me. Hope he gets his chance to keep proving haters wrong.

Based on that quote he should have stayed with Top Rank. The problem is these ass holes are trying to use him as a lottery ticket and think they have an asset worth much more than it really is.
