Gennady Golovkin knocked out Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio in two rounds to retain his WBA/IBO middleweight titles in California. The 32-year-old from Kazakhstan, a 2004 Olympic silver medallist, improved to 31-0 with 28 knockouts, the latest coming 79 seconds into the second round and extending a streak of victories inside the distance that began in 2008.

Golovkin, defending his world title for a 12th time, landed an uppercut to stun Rubio and finished off the fight with a powerful overhand left. Rubio tried to rise but referee Jack Reiss counted him out before he made it back onto his feet. Rubio fell to 59-7 with one draw. Photos by Sumio Yamada, Naoki Fukuda, Mike Kabooki.

Damn, GGG ain't really got no defense. He's always vulnerable to getting hit. Peter Quillen, Ward, and other more slick boxers will trouble him.

Golovkins defense is a bit underrated. He blocks shots well. Rolls with the shots that he gets hit with. And he gets hit because hes always in punching range. He dont move around the ring like a slick fighter.

Golovkin has so much confidence in his power and chin that as soon as the bell rings he goes and creates KOs, not openings, but he goes straight for KO shots.

Seriously, the most impressive phenom this sport has ever seen. All he needs is the names who keep ducking him, once he knocks them out, YOU CANNOT deny his place as the greatest ever. Period.

He does have defense he just don't care right now, but he will adjust to slick fighters and KO them if they don't run out of the ring

Im on holiday in Iceland right now but had a couple of hours to spare this morning so finally got to watch Walters vs Donaire (great scrap!) and GGG vs Rubio, Man Golovkin is a KILLER! His punch power is insane and he applies not just constant pressure but measured intelligent pressure and he doesn't neglect the body as so many big bangers do! His defence is under rated imo he's no punch bag... But he IS there to be hit, its gonna happen when u fight so aggressively but whats important is his own shots do more damage and he rolls quite a lot of his opponents shots, always has the chin tucked and so far including all those amateur fights has shown a granite jaw!

Massive fan of this guy and hope he gets a Huge fight soon

                    That is the one.

The look of pure venom when Golovkin throws power shots tells it all. Be it head or body, he's looking to break you.
