  • Haye Signed For Valuev Without Golden Boy's Approval

News of a contract being signed last week by David Haye to fight heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev for Valuev's heavyweight championship was intriguing for a couple of reasons: One, it meant he had backed out of a proposed fight with another champion, Vitali Klitschko. Two, Richard Schaefer was out of town vacationing in Mexico with his wife and kids. [details]

Cosign. He could stand to use GBP on his side.

That decision doesn't do him good. He screwed up two probable big fights for a match with someone who would bring him less reward. A win over either Klitschko would have been very big for Haye but he chose Valuev.

The K brothers gave him a ***** contract, and pretty much made sure that no matter what, they would come out with the titles still due to the rematches.

Also, it's better as this way he gets more experience as a heavyweight and picks up a belt that the K brothers want, which will earn him more pull during negotiations with the Klitschkos.

Except if it came down to it, they could sue to block the fight from happening. Since Don King if Valuev's co-promoter, they could sue in the US.
