If Pacquiao KOs Hatton sooner then Mayweather did...

Then that does not take away Mayweather's win at all. Is it more impressive then Mayweather's? That all depends on how Pacquiao does before then.

I seem to be one of the fans other then Floyd nuthuggers who actually give Floyd credit for his win over Hatton. It's not about Hatton's size. Hatton came in well pre pared at 147 this time around. It's not about Joe Cortez. What impressed me about Mayweather's victory is how he fought Hatton's fight, broke him down, and then KOd him late...

How the hell is Manny Pacquiao going to fight in 2008 again?

Posted 08-14-2008 at 03:04 AM by warp1432 (Betting stuff)
Is anyone else thinking about this. No not who, but is there really a date left for him now that Oscar doesn't seem like an option.

Let's look ahead assuming he fights in november:

November 1st: Antonio Margarito vs Joshua Clottey on Showtime PPV (?)
November 8th: Roy Jones vs Joe Calzaghe HBO PPV
November 15th: Jeff Lacy vs Jermain Taylor and hopefully Cristian Mijares vs Vic Darchinyan
November 22nd: Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi

Why I like a title (or even titles)

Posted 08-09-2008 at 05:19 AM by warp1432 (Betting stuff)
"Titles they are worthless. It's the fighters that that makes the belt" is a common statement among boxing fans.

I don't like it. While it's true that the actual fight is more important and defines the fighter more, I think titles can have some importance. I don't know about you guys, but when I hear Michael Buffer say "FOR THE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD" it gets me pumped up.

While I think the alphabet soup titles are worthless, I like the idea of a championship...

Boxing 2008 six months evaluations

Posted 07-28-2008 at 02:03 AM by warp1432 (Betting stuff)
6 months have past, here are some of my evaluations.

First off, the top 10 pound for pound as of July 28, 2008:

1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Juan Manuel Marquez
4. Israel Vasquez
5. Kelly Pavlik
6. Paul Williams
7. Antonio Margarito
8. Bernard Hopkins
9. Cristian Mijares
10. Miguel Cotto

I'm kind of uneasy about having Pavlik at 5, but it's just because everyone pretty much lost. Williams...

Wladimir Klitchsko vs Tony Thompson and other thoughts

Posted 07-07-2008 at 03:23 AM by warp1432 (Betting stuff)
Oh Wladimir Wladimir Wladimir. You were so god awful last time out, I'm kinda reluctant to watch this saturday.

To be honest, I didn't find Brewster-Wlad 2 as bad as everyone said it was last year. I hope he makes up for that bad performance last night. Maybe he should have focused on throwing more punches insted of what he was going to say on Conan.

As for the actual fight, I think Wlad will win a UD. I'd love to see him use his left hook more this fight. Tony is a...
