I am a 53 year old male who resides in Mi,WI., I started taking boxing lessons in late 2007, needed to stay fit and healthy and figured this was a good way to get in shape. I enjoy strapping on the gloves and exchanging punches, full contact, it doesn't matter if I win or lose, just enjoy the action and exercise. Boxing 2008 six months evaluations

6 months have past, here are some of my evaluations.

First off, the top 10 pound for pound as of July 28, 2008:

1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Juan Manuel Marquez
4. Israel Vasquez
5. Kelly Pavlik
6. Paul Williams
7. Antonio Margarito
8. Bernard Hopkins
9. Cristian Mijares
10. Miguel Cotto

I'm kind of uneasy about having Pavlik at 5, but it's just because everyone pretty much lost. Williams...

The CompuBox era

Thanks to computers and media advances, sports like baseball and football have been enhanced with more detailed statistics over the past decade. These stats are usually both informative and interesting. Boxing's answer to this is CompuBox, which has been with us for about 20 years now. HBO and ESPN pay a good amount of money for this service. But do these numbers really enlighten us the way other sports statistics do? I have serious doubts about it.
