Did nas join jay Z's label in order to do his own thing as the "old nas" or did he do it because he now sees the world like jay sees it. Check out this interview from Nas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iId0YqNJaI

Now compare what he says there to what jay Z says here.

I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars
They criticized me for it yet they all yell 'HOLLA!'
If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be
lyrically, Talib Kweli
Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
But I did five mill' - I ain't been rhymin like Common since
When your cents got that much in common
And you been hustlin since, your inception
**** perception go with what makes sense.

Well actually i prefer a "boring" style to boring or lyrics (such as what you find in most of the rapper jay Z's music. ) Yet the way things are going it may be getting to the point that the only thing that will be worth listening to anyway is old school rap.

There will be another golden age.
It'll be after this era.
Another icon will emerge.

This is my prophecy, nìgga.

Guess that means that we'll never see a Nas/Premier album then.

Nas just needs to lead the way. I think a lot of DJs share his views, but they have to answer to the man.
