what is this MMA you are always talking about??

What fight or event would you want to show them as a good advertisment of it?

I showed a guy Pride 10 a week ago and he thought it was pretty awesome...which it is. This is also the one I show most people that aren't use to the idea of MMA.

i just started watching pride 10 for the first time. WOW! that mezger silva fight was great. but everyone said mezger rocked silva once, i didn't see that. and the Giant Ochi is ****in COOL!

I do have people coming up and asking me that, mainly because of my shirts. I always tell them, it is the most exciting sport you could imagine. It is a test of skills between 2 guys who have trained long hard hours, and one simple move can cause a loss or a win. It's a combination of wrestling, martial arts (all kinds) & boxing! I tell them it has rules and regulations that are strictly enforced, and unlike other much advertised sports, no one has died. I also tell them, people who don't really know anything about it, like to say it is barbaric, but yet those same people will watch 2 men beat the shit out of each others head with 16 oz gloves on! I tell them they should sit in an emergency room and see what skateboards, football, baseball, ATV riding, and bicycles do in 1 night. Then come talk to me about how dangerous MMA is. You see, I have 3 sons, I've seen more blood in my backyard, I wasn't an impressive ref, most of the time, I let them solve it on their own. I know that a face has less meat, more bony parts, thus more bloody looking. I also know that even if it isn't that bloody, it looks like it is, because they keep smearing it alllllllll over. But they always healed nicely!
I don't have alot of fight tapes, yet, I would love to have more, but I have plenty of "Scorpion" tapes. And I get the biggest thrill out of watching them as they start to lean forward, and tighten up and lean into each move! I love the way they suck in their breath, as an escape is made! And I love it when they get excited just from watching a tape, I tell them, there is NOTHING like being there, in person, the music, the cheering, and the comradeship between the fighters, even after the fight, there is nothing like it, anywhere! I tell them how dedicated, and the love each fighter has for the much put down sport they have chosen, and respect I have not seen at any other sport. And a greater bunch of guys you could hope to meet, anywhere!

For old UFCs can't beat UFC 6 and Ultimate Ultimate 2

Just show them Ninja/Sperry and then Lawler/Riley and they will be hooked.

Yeah, I have tried that one also...but a lot of people don't get the whole ground game idea it would seem. They prefer to see Silva/Mezger or another good stand up fight with minimal ground fighting. It is a process of bringing them in slowly I think.

UFC 40, UFC 37 or UFC 38 are all great choices.

I would never show them shockwave though. That event might of been entertaining, but it made MMA look like a farce.

I've never understood why people say Silva was rocked in that fight either, and no one who says it ever explains it. Glad I'm not the only one:)

If i want to rock some friend into MMA i first try to expalin to him the implications for one to be on the ring for his way of life ... his profession ... in which conditions will one fight a real fight?

Among many things, atributes such as honor, dignity, discipline, one pointedness will pop up ... of course the great majority of my friends will just turn their heads away ... in fact i still virgin ... none of my friends believed me ... but i go on ...

Guy caught him, and while he didn't hurt Silva that badly, he cut him something fierce.

Then again, everyone cuts Silva.

Sure he got cut, but his knees were never close to buckling, that's not getting rocked...

Well, Silva got rocked by Ortiz and still tried to do a double leg. Silva took a HUGE flury from Vitor and even though BJM stopped the fight Silva was only dazzed. Not knocked out.

So even stopping him for a second was impressive

True, (this is my point of view) just when I think of "rocked" I would think of his fight with henderson, or even sak when he caught him with a right and dropped him to a knee. Maybe mezger slightly dazed him(which I didn't see), but I defianetly never saw him get rocked.

The first ultimat ultimate was great! Pride 10 and 13.

I have the ultimate knockout and submissions on one tape i show some people

ufc 1 and show the comparison to ufc 40 (how it has changed and grown into a huge sport and a very competetive one)

and pride 10.

maybe even best of kotc too to show some of the under shows and where they go first.
