The Raging Bull 12-04-2006, 05:17 PM I liked Jet Li's 'Hero' a lot. Not watched many martial arts movies to be honest. Dapperpessimist 12-04-2006, 05:22 PM It has to be the obvious one for me: Enter the Dragon. Bruce Lee was, and remains, the best by light years. THE REAL NINJA 12-04-2006, 05:49 PM I liked Jet Li's 'Hero' a lot. Not watched many martial arts movies to be honest. Try 'unleashed' good movie but stupid story . K-DOGG 12-04-2006, 05:52 PM Enter the Dragon, though there were many I used to watch on "Black Belt Theater" as a kid that I loved.....I can't remember the name of any. "Hero" was good, and there are several others I haven't seen yet with Li that look good, such as "Once Upon a Time in China"...think that's the name; but of the ones I have seen that I can remember the name of...."Enter the Dragon" is the best. platinummatt! 12-04-2006, 05:55 PM Kiss of the dragon Dockers_ABC 12-04-2006, 06:17 PM yeah i was a lee fan until i watched tony jaa in ONG BAK that guys a killer fraidycat 12-04-2006, 07:03 PM Lethal Weapon. GhostInMachines 12-30-2007, 08:28 PM I own multiple Sonny Chiba films including all the streetfighters. He rips a rapist testicles off with his hands and that made one of the Streetfighters for me. Lone Wolf and cub is a bad ass series as well. yea that black guy right!? that was bad ass flat1985 01-18-2008, 04:02 PM The Drunken master is a classic BennyST 08-13-2008, 05:25 AM ong bak.................. Ong Bak was great. Though if you love realistic martial arts movies, the greatest one of all time has to be Jet Li's 'Fist of Legend'. Not many people have actually seen it, but, it is based on the real life story of the Jing Wu school and their most famous student. It has the best fight scenes I've ever seen in any film, and that includes Ong Bak. They're also very realistic (no wire BS or weird jumpy crap) which was very refreshing. Quite simply the most intricate, intense fight scenes imaginable. I don't think it is the best martial arts movie I've seen, although it is certainly up there with the best, but it has the best fight scenes in any martial art film I've seen. Also I think the early Chan stuff still has some of the most incredible action movie stunts and fight scenes that will ever be seen. His stunts in Project A 1 and 2 as well as the first couple of Police Stories along with the out-takes are simply breathtaking and unbelievable. His very early movies such as Drunken Master 1 and 2 (Though 2 was a fair bit later. It was also the better of the two and one of his best movies easily), The Young Master, Dragon Lord, Armour of God etc etc are just brilliant pieces of action cinema. Honestly, I think that Chan's early movies are the greatest pieces of action cinema available. They contain well done stories and the actual action is out of this world good. Amazing stuff! It's a real pity that he wasn't accepted earlier into the mainstream and his early work isn't better known, because compared to all of his American movies, his early work is just brilliantly stunning. The best all 'round martial art movie I've seen would probably go to one of the early Chan movies or early Jet li movies. Project A is up there along with the Police Story movies and Drunken Master 2. For Jet it would be the aforementioned Fist of Legend, one of the Shaolin movies (all of which are fantastic and a must watch for any Jet Li fan. Again, most people have never seen these and they are easily his best movies. All three are brilliant and I would struggle to pick one out as the best.) or possibly Once Upon a Time in China 1. There are so many great films that it is hard to pick just one. A little known fact is that Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan have actually been in a film together. He did some stunt work in both Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon as the actors couldn't do the necessary stunt work and so Chan was the guy you see flying through the air in those films. Anyone who digs the martial art movies simply must go find the old Chan and Li (Jet) movies mentioned above and watch them. They far surpass anything either of them have done in America and are utterly amazing to watch. The most important thing though is to make sure you get them in the original language with subtitles. It completely ruins the movie if you watch the dubbed versions. Not only does it make the acting seem terrible (watched in the original language both guys are surprisingly good actors) but the intent and intensity is ruined along with all the main emphasis points of the original voicing. The translations are also quite often really terrible. Miyagi 08-13-2008, 11:25 AM my choice should be obvious.. vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
