View Full Version : Mike Tyson vs. David Tua
Truth 10-11-2004, 01:34 PM If Mike Tyson continues to fight which I expect he will, maybe him and David Tua could fight. That would be a great fight for the fans and the sport. I heard Tua is on his way back and Tyson should soon be on his way back. What do you think of this fight? Who would you pick? Who has the better punch? I would go Tyson KO3

borikua 10-11-2004, 01:38 PM That would be a great fight...TUA by TKO.
Hurlex 10-11-2004, 01:46 PM i say tyson ko's him fast..tua fought LL..but aside from that has never fought a guy who was short like him and packed a punch..meaninh tua for once can get uppercut...and for the first time he would feel total power right on his chin..and i think he would get ko'ed
tyson 1-2rounds
Marjoh 10-11-2004, 01:55 PM Tua-Tyson double KO.
Truth 10-11-2004, 01:56 PM I think if this fight ever happened it would depend on who was in better condition.
Silencer 11-11-2004, 11:20 PM It's going to be Tyson by a late round KO/TKO or by an easy UD...
mr. bojangles 11-11-2004, 11:42 PM Today's version of Tua & Tyson.
Tua's busy fighting his weight (somewhere near 300lbs?) ;)
Tyson's busy trying to get focused (he's in a deep hole) :o
But prime Tyson vs. prime Tua
Both have good head & body movement, real KO power, speed.
50/50. Depends on who lands the 1st KO punch.
MlLkMan 11-11-2004, 11:43 PM Dont really care.
boxingexpert 11-12-2004, 02:50 AM That would be a great fight...TUA by TKO.
Sad but true.
deuce_drop 11-12-2004, 04:11 AM tua has never been ko'ed,mike has.tua has been down once, and he was off balance when rahman hit him, it was a square and legit punch, but he was off balance..... i say tua ko's mike within 3 rd. i also think he(tyson)would go out with one punch, out cold too. this fight if it were to happen might be to brutal for tv. also tua is good at smothering fighters and tyson don't like that....lets hope it comes to pass....
Nodogoshi 11-12-2004, 04:58 AM Tua has never been down (atleast not officially, the Rahman KD was after the bell) but if he fought Tyson, his chin would definatly be tested. Tua may very well be KO'd in the early rounds, but Tyson would fade and Tua has demonstrated that he has power late in a fight, as he did against Oquendo. So, if it goes into the later rounds, Tua wins by KO. If not, it could go either way but I'd give the edge to Tyson because he is a more versitile fighter. My pick: Tua by KO in 7.
Knicksman20 11-12-2004, 06:17 PM With today's Tyson I'm not sure about the outcome. The Tyson we saw against Danny Williams looked good until he hurt his knee. He was throwing combos & jabbing. He actually looked good. But Tua's got great power. I don't think Tua could KO Mike with 1 punch though, nobody's been able to do that. I recently watched the Ibeabuchi vs Tua fight again & in the 11th round Ike was staggered by a combo by Tua. Then right before the bell rang, Tua really opened up & got lifted by a vicious left hook by Ike. It was the 1st time I EVER saw Tua look hurt because moved a few steps back & paused look a deer in head-lights. I think if Ike could hurt him Tyson could too. But, this fight is a toss-up.
The Fix 11-12-2004, 06:49 PM Tua KO 2. tyson doesnt have a great chin and it as well would be tested. tua has more power than dany williams so tyson is out early but he should take the fight i think it would make a ton of money, i mean who wouldnt want to see it?
tys0n 11-12-2004, 07:23 PM i still think tyson has something. i think he would be able to put tua away pretty easily. i would have to say tyson by KO in five rounds. if tyson to stay focued and just worry about training and fighting he could easily win. tua is a very hard puncher, but tyson still has good movent and still has the one punch power. im not saying tyson would KO tua with one punch, but i think he would end it in the mid rounds.
The Fix 11-12-2004, 07:30 PM ^^^^ tyson is just a shell not even top ten. all he has left is a punchers chance IMO
jack_the_rippuh 11-12-2004, 07:31 PM Yes, Tua has been known to come back after being down to knock people out, but he hasn't done well against anyone who can hit equally as hard as him.
oldgringo 11-12-2004, 09:02 PM Yes, Tua has been known to come back after being down to knock people out, but he hasn't done well against anyone who can hit equally as hard as him.
Would Tyson stand up to Tua the way Ibeabuchi did? Was his chin and body tough enough to take punishment from a big puncher for 12 rounds?
Duncan 11-12-2004, 11:53 PM Tyson v. Tua: Hard and fast one way or the other.
FistoftheDallasStar 11-13-2004, 04:16 AM This one would be decided by who wants it the most. It could turn out like the Moorer - Cooper fight with knockdowns from both fighters. It would definately be a war if it ever takes place.
MikeHunt 11-13-2004, 04:48 AM I like Tyson inside of 3, but if it goes past that Tua makes him quit..........
TheFairPole 11-13-2004, 06:39 AM This is an easy fight to call at this stage in their careers!!! Tua would easily KO Tyson within 3 rounds!!! Don't get me wrong, I think Tyson would be throwing bombs back. I am the type of person who believes that any fighter can be KO'd. But I really don't think there is anyone who can KO David Tua, not even Tyson!!! Especially nowadays. I have never even seen Tua stunned!!! At worst he was stopped in his tracks by Ike and Lewis but never hurt... That being said, I would love to see this awesome 3 rounds!!!
I think a prime Tyson woud win but i think it woud be a great fight
ejk22 11-13-2004, 10:38 AM This is an easy fight to call at this stage in their careers!!! Tua would easily KO Tyson within 3 rounds!!! Don't get me wrong, I think Tyson would be throwing bombs back. I thought Rahman knocked Tua down in one of their fights? Not knocked out, just knocked down.
TheFairPole 11-14-2004, 04:02 AM I thought Rahman knocked Tua down in one of their fights? Not knocked out, just knocked down.
It was after the final bell of the last round. Tua was of balance and wasn't even looking. So the knockdown didn't even count!
Supafly25 11-14-2004, 04:14 AM 4sho would b a great xciting fight, could go either way but i would say Tyson.
Prime Tyson would win easily. Judging on the latest Tyson fight, the question will be is Tua in a bad enough shape for tyson to win.
Keleneki 11-16-2004, 04:30 AM I think that if Tua keeps his weight under control, he will stop Tyson inside the distance.
Palma 11-16-2004, 09:18 AM this would be a good fight. Both are capable of knocking each other out at anytime.
jack_the_rippuh 11-16-2004, 11:21 AM Tyson likes facing big punchers for some reason..
GasPed 11-16-2004, 11:53 AM This is an easy fight to call at this stage in their careers!!! Tua would easily KO Tyson within 3 rounds!!! Hate to say it, but I have to agree. Mike hasn't shown much over the past few years (save 2 decent rounds against Williams), while Tua has shown that he still has something in the tank. Tua by KO3.
Now if they were both in their primes, that would be another story...
jack_the_rippuh 11-16-2004, 11:56 AM Tua's been stunned...he's even been dropped, after the bell, but he's been dropped...I don't think Tua's ever faced anyone who hits as hard as Tyson.
Tyson_Bit_Holyfields_Ear 12-18-2004, 08:31 PM Tua by KO.
If Williams can take the shots so will Tua. Tua can be 300lbs and still have better stamina than Tyson and will stop him after a few rounds.
usopogi 04-11-2006, 12:14 PM i think david tua would knock da taste out of mike tyson...mike tyson may be quicker and pack a punch...but david tua is pretty fast for his size and he packs a harder punch than mike tyson...and plus its too damn hard to knock down a samoan...mike tyson can go down easy and he doesnt have enough heart to get back up.
DiegoFuego 04-11-2006, 12:16 PM If Mike Tyson continues to fight which I expect he will, maybe him and David Tua could fight. That would be a great fight for the fans and the sport. is that a joke

your an idiot and the reason im going to put u in the red
-Antonio- 04-11-2006, 12:25 PM old ass post....Tua is taylor made for Tyson in his prime. Tyson wins by desician, and Tyson has a great chin. His heart isnt always there, but look at the shots he takes against Lewis and Dougles and tell me he has no chin. Everytime hes been down has been on punishment throughout the fight.
MISTA_SANDMAN 04-11-2006, 12:29 PM True- but Tua's chin is solid as well old ass post....Tua is taylor made for Tyson in his prime. Tyson wins by desician, and Tyson has a great chin. His heart isnt always there, but look at the shots he takes against Lewis and Dougles and tell me he has no chin. Everytime hes been down has been on punishment throughout the fight.
DiegoFuego 04-11-2006, 12:31 PM If you think Tyson KO's Tua, you're crazy. If Tyson had won every fight in his career by knockout, then maybe I could see it. Otherwise, hell no. Tua has the best chin of all time. Lewis didn't even hurt Tua. Ibeabuchi traded bombs with Tua. And you're gonna tell me Tyson could KO him? That's laughable
Revere 04-11-2006, 02:19 PM Tua, no doubt

lol. your kidding right? tyson couldnt beat danny williams or kevin mcbride yet tyson would beat and even knockout tua who's never been stopped? lol....I sure hope you were joking. hell,,,I could whip tyson now
beez721 04-11-2006, 02:55 PM i say tyson ko's him fast..tua fought LL..but aside from that has never fought a guy who was short like him and packed a punch..meaninh tua for once can get uppercut...and for the first time he would feel total power right on his chin..and i think he would get ko'ed
tyson 1-2rounds
uhm,,,tua fought Ibeabuchi,,maskeav,,,,and rahman twice. was never hurt by any of them and tyson has lost to 2 bums in a row and he can beat tua? my god your stupid
Oasis_Lad 04-11-2006, 02:58 PM tua by ko in 5
beez721 04-11-2006, 02:59 PM i still think tyson has something. i think he would be able to put tua away pretty easily. i would have to say tyson by KO in five rounds. if tyson to stay focued and just worry about training and fighting he could easily win. tua is a very hard puncher, but tyson still has good movent and still has the one punch power. im not saying tyson would KO tua with one punch, but i think he would end it in the mid rounds.
roflmao. tyson is a shot bum who cant even beat top 30 heavies anymore. we saw that in his last fight with mcbride. tysons a 3 round fighter now and he isnt a big hitter anymore either. mcbride and danny williams both have suspect chins and took tysons best and whupped him. even mentioning tyson being competitive with tua is laughable
usopogi 04-11-2006, 03:02 PM your an idiot and the reason im going to put u in the red
how u gonna tell me im an idiot for sayin dat...ur an idiot for tellin me im wrong...david tua has alot more power than tyson..
gnostic19 04-11-2006, 03:14 PM i say tyson ko's him fast..tua fought LL..but aside from that has never fought a guy who was short like him and packed a punch..meaninh tua for once can get uppercut...and for the first time he would feel total power right on his chin..and i think he would get ko'ed
tyson 1-2rounds
uh, did you see the shots Tua took from Lewis & Ibeabuchi? He wasn't fazed. What makes you think a washed up Tyson could KO Tua?
gnostic19 04-11-2006, 03:16 PM These timeless Tyson fans remind me of the rednecks down here in TX who thought Nolan Ryan could come out of retirement at the age of 50, with a blown out elbow, and rescue the Rangers pitching staff. Get a life.
elgaringo 04-11-2006, 03:39 PM I think if this fight ever happened it would depend on who was in better condition.
I agree with you
Versastyle 04-11-2006, 04:30 PM how u gonna tell me im an idiot for sayin dat...ur an idiot for tellin me im wrong...david tua has alot more power than tyson..
every1 knows tue dont got more power then tyson. when **** comes up with power ranking's he's never in there. so how the hell can u even compare better yet say he got more power
Revere 04-11-2006, 04:32 PM One thing is for sure. It would be a hell of a long time before Tyson would take this fight, if ever.
deuce_drop 04-11-2006, 06:10 PM tua would knock out mike even in mike prime.
tua has never been knocked out and only down once. and i'm not even sure if it was called a knockdown, i know he was tired and off balance but rahman did drop him in the last few seconds of their second fight.
all that being said, tua can take a better punchthan tyson and give just as good if not better punch than tyson.
now though tyson would get killed by tua, even the lazy tua is he hits him.
obviously i'd take tua in this match up.
deuce_drop 04-11-2006, 06:16 PM every1 knows tue dont got more power then tyson. when **** comes up with power ranking's he's never in there. so how the hell can u even compare better yet say he got more power
it can be said that tua has more late round ko's than tyson, and has been known for knocking guys out with either hand at any time of the fight. if tyson didn't blow his opponents out of the water in the first fours rounds then it would go the distance.(most of the time)
i'd say overall tua has a slight edge in power over tyson, but they're pretty much equal....
the thing is, growing up and watching tyson he was made out to all as the most devistating puncher ever, when lennox lewis had the bigger punch of both of them( in his right hand ).....
i'm a fan of all three so no bias from my side of things....
Mr. Ryan 04-11-2006, 06:24 PM If Mike Tyson continues to fight which I expect he will, maybe him and David Tua could fight. That would be a great fight for the fans and the sport. CONGRATULATIONS!!! THIS IS THE 1,000TH TYSON-TUA thread. Good K to you, bro.

I love ya truth but enough with Tyson. Tua's wife would beat him at this point. Tyson is past done.
Versastyle 04-11-2006, 08:39 PM I love ya truth but enough with Tyson. Tua's wife would beat him at this point. Tyson is past done.
this thread is old and he didnt even start it
Versastyle 04-11-2006, 08:43 PM and just another insight of tyson being a harder hitter is tyson had 24 lst round kos compared to tuas 15 1st round kos. and tyson didnt jus knockout of there prime ppl in those kos
Versastyle 04-11-2006, 08:45 PM uhm,,,tua fought Ibeabuchi,,maskeav,,,,and rahman twice. was never hurt by any of them and tyson has lost to 2 bums in a row and he can beat tua? my god your stupid
the guy also never put in prime neither which sucked. but it would go the distance with tyson winning
marvdave 04-11-2006, 08:52 PM this thread is old and he didnt even start it
my bad..I just get tired of Tyson talk..we all need to turn the page
Truth 04-11-2006, 09:26 PM Diego, marvdave and everybody else...look at the date when this was made: 10-11-2004, 05:34 PM #1...Its old, someone braught it back. Tyson is done now.
marvdave 04-12-2006, 10:51 AM truth
apologies...I need to pay more attention :D
usopogi 04-12-2006, 12:18 PM david tua would k.o tyson in the first round...tyson couldn't see tua in distance either...especially now days...and plus, samoans are known for their power and strength...especially if u were raised in the islands of samoa.
tennmartin 04-12-2006, 01:20 PM uh, did you see the shots Tua took from Lewis & Ibeabuchi? He wasn't fazed. What makes you think a washed up Tyson could KO Tua?
I dont see Tyson beating any significant heavy today. For all of you who say Tua has never been fazed. Take a look at the BIRD fight. Bird almost got him out of there with a body shot. Tua can be hurt and knocked out.
Versastyle 04-12-2006, 07:58 PM david tua would k.o tyson in the first round...tyson couldn't see tua in distance either...especially now days...and plus, samoans are known for their power and strength...especially if u were raised in the islands of samoa.
is that why tua never won a title cause he was so good
david tua would k.o tyson in the first round.
That's ridiculous man.
There is no way in sam hell Tua would finish him in 1 round given they fought in their primes.
I just don't see it. You'd have to draw up a really good explaination for someone to believe that one.
beez721 04-12-2006, 08:20 PM is that why tua never won a title cause he was so good
no,,,,he's one dimensional but the problem is,,,tyson is that bad now
sole_dole 07-24-2006, 11:36 PM david tua has never been knocked out but i think whoever lands the first big blow 50/50
i say tyson ko's him fast..tua fought LL..but aside from that has never fought a guy who was short like him and packed a punch..meaninh tua for once can get uppercut...and for the first time he would feel total power right on his chin..and i think he would get ko'ed
tyson 1-2rounds
ur ignorant..tua has a granite chin and punches harder then tyson
luistwentyone 07-24-2006, 11:43 PM tua........and punches harder then tyson
put the crack pipe down !
Brick Top 07-25-2006, 06:26 PM I dont think any year Tyson could KO Tua , his chin is much better then Tyson and a one punch KO power that Tyson never really had , prime Tyson would have to use every bit of speed and boxing skill to win a 12D
At this stage Tyson would not last 3 rounds before getting KTFO !
r_sendo 07-25-2006, 06:42 PM Prime Tyson VS Prime Tua, I'd say Tyson. He was the best in the late 80's, undisputed HW champ. Tua isn't close. Of course they both have KO power that can finish a fight anytime. But i'd give the advantage to Tyson.
But if they fight right now, I'd give it to Tua. Tyson's too old, too slow, while Tua is still fighting competitively.
Tua has never been down (atleast not officially, the Rahman KD was after the bell) but if he fought Tyson, his chin would definatly be tested. My pick: Tua by KO in 7.
actaully tua was stopped in the amatuers by going down several times
realheavyhands 07-25-2006, 09:01 PM are you all crazy tyson ate up small heavyweights. except envander holyroid. any fighter tysons size doesnt stand a chance unless james toney was 220 of pure muscle like tyson , not the steroided up stiff james toney either.
are you all crazy tyson ate up small heavyweights. except envander holyroid. any fighter tysons size doesnt stand a chance unless james toney was 220 of pure muscle like tyson , not the steroided up stiff james toney either.
you think Holyeild was on steriods but not Tyson?
realheavyhands 07-25-2006, 09:18 PM you think Holyeild was on steriods but not Tyson?
yes i do , tyson was 13 and could bench press 250. ive never seen heavyweight as ripped as holyfield and he used to be lightheavy. moorer worked hard as hell in the weight room and he had bigger legs and he never looked like holyfield. holyfield also said he lifted everyday that impossible unless your on steroids
Crazy Dude 07-25-2006, 10:14 PM I think Tua's got an edge on power and toughness. Tyson's superior in elusiveness, which helps him avoid punches and set up punches.
Prime Tyson vs. prime Tua - Tyson probably wins. Tua has a punchers chance.
Present Tyson vs. present Tua - Whoever wants it more. Whoever shows up in good condition and fights with more heart.
