I'm feeling Game album definitely as one of the top albums. I thought he kept it real street and those are the kind of albums I like. But, I have to go with Food and Liquor. That album was completely different from anything this year. This will go down as a classic when you reflect on it. The production was incredible, the way the songs were sequenced and how they all flowed together. I was extremely impressed with his album.

I can't fully comment because I haven't heard Hell Hath No Fury yet but I've heard lots of good stuff about it..just heard that they had weak hooks.

I think it's between Kingdome Come, Food & Liquor, Doctor's Advocate, Fishscale, The Big Bang, Laugh Now Cry Later, or Hi-Tek's new joint...

And I think I'm going to have to go with Hi-Teknology 2: The Chip. That ****'s bangin.

I dont care if it's making money. It's wack. I dont care if they're laughing at people with less than them. It's a wack song, I don't care if his album goes triple platinum, that doesnt make the song good. What's with all value being placed on money these days? Just because those ****ty southern artists makes more money then most of us doesn't make them better people then the average joe with an office job.

At the end of the day it's all about the music, not how much money it makes, and that song is incredibly wack (like most southern artists).

I've always felt that Ludacris could put out a classic if he wanted to, but his focus is on getting radio play and releasing discs too frequently.

Ludacris puts out a lot of good songs. He has a nice flow, a great personality, a sense of humor and, at times, a distinctive rhyme style.

**** like "Money Maker", "Diamond in the Back", "Pimpin' All Over the World" may make him money, but they do a disservice to him as an artist. It seems like 2 out of 3 radio singles for Ludacris are garbage and he'll guest on anybody's song.

One dimensional is exactly the opposite of my taste in music. I acknowledge the fact that the South is on top, as far as radio airplay and t.v. exposure. They are NOT on top, as far as where quality music is coming from. That's what matters to me:Good music. Not popularity, not exposure. NO single coast is on top, in that regard. I meant that if I had called a popular, well selling east coast artist's song 'wack', I doubt you would defend them like you do the southern artists. Again, sales do not matter most when it comes to good music, thinking that, would be....one dimensional.

You're right... People in the south like and support southern hip-hop (majority)... People from the east coast like and support east coast hip-hop (majority)... If we are talking about hip hop, real hip-hop... Obviously that would mean east coast hip-hop is the better quality... Taking into account that hip-hop originated there... Music from the south is different... Not to say it is bad (can't be bad because it does have a following), but to me and to any TRUE HIP-HOP head... IT IS AWFUL! Now-a-days it's all about money and not quality "hip-hop"... Whatever sells will be duplicated and run into the ground until the next garbage catches on (i.e. Lean wit it, Shoulder lean)... To me that also includes a lot of those garbage 50 cent tracks with trash lyrics and excellent catchy hooks... Hip-Hop is Dead... Jay-Z has put the gotten the heartbeat back though... He has got some "hip-hop" back on the radio... A lot of artists do have some solid music but it's not getting airplay like the lean wit it, it's goin down, ears hang low GARBAGE!

Hip-Hop won't be dead for much longer though...

I'm NOT saying e.coast has better quality music than anywhere else. Read the post again:nonono: Just because I think that a lot of the pop. music from the South that's been coming out has been lackluster, doesnt mean I automatically think the East is better. Like I said, NO COAST is on top, as far as quality music is concerned. If you're talking sales, The South is on top. BTW, that Clipse song "Trill" will be making my 'Best of 2006' compilation.

I like the debate we have going. I'd like to add to versatile2k6, one of the reasons why east coast rap is better than southern rap is the wide variety of subject matter - many more artists with many more topics and themes in their songs.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Murs' "Murray's Revenge"? That was a GREAT album, 2nd best this year IMO behind Ghostface's "Fishscale". I also think the new Meth album was pretty good.

Can anyone tell me if they know what the Circuit City "exclusive" download track for the Hip Hop Is Dead release is? Best Buy's is "Where Y'all At?"
