I'd back ol Floyd in this one. Either UD or late stoppage.

their styles would make for an interesting fight, but I have to give it to Byrd. Pattersons only quality win was an against an old Archie Moore, and I think Byrd is a better fighter then Ingemar, who Floyd had all kinds of trouble with.

I'd give it to Byrd by UD.

Patterson too skilled, quick, and powerful. He would win a close decision over Byrd, perhaps knocking him down on the way.

patterson had a glass jaw, i have his fight against ali, and ali's jab knocked him out. i think byrd could actually knock patterson out. prime chris byrd reminds me of ezzard charles, but not quite as good as charles. anyway, i think byrd is good enough to beat patterson.

Patterson's jaw was not very solid but he was rarely just knocked clean out where he couldn't get back up. I don't think Byrd hit as hard as any of the guys who floored him. Was Floyd ever knocked down by a non puncher? I can't recall. In terms of quickness he was faster than Byrd and that's usually Byrd's big advantage. How would he deal with a guy who was faster than, and who hit harder than, himself? I would also give the edge in skill to Patterson. All Byrd has is weight and chin. I think Floyd beats him, but I can see how someone would pick Byrd. I don't think anyone gets knocked out here.

yeah, i was just talking shit about byrdy knocking patterson out, but i think he could beat him. i watched a lot of prime byrd in the mid to late nineties, i'll never forget how good he was then compared to now. he was really amazing to watch, if u take that as a measure of skill, and i do, i think byrd is as good as patterson. byrd only gets knocked out by superheavyweights, patterson had good power but he doesn't hit that hard. the speed of patterson would be harder for byrdy to overcome. if patterson decides to be a counterpuncher, and make byrd be first - like fres oquendo, then byrd will struggle to squeak out a decision, but i think patterson would try to be first, byrd would time his punches and counter him.

Patterson is way faster, hits harder, and is more skilled than Byrd.

Patterson by late stoppage.

I have got around 13 floyd patterson fights, if you watch his early fights he has amazing hand speed, i have never seen a heavweight with such quick hands, his power was also good the punch he landed in the 2nd Ingemar fight was great. his jab was also fast and hard. and his combos where good, i think he would beat byrd by ud or possible late ko, watch the archie moore, ingemar 2 and 3, chuval fight's to see how good patterson was.

patterson was qukic powerful and elusive his chin wasn't great but it only became an issue with big punchers which byrd is not!

ali never knocked ou patterson but in the second fight it was stopped because of a cut (TKO)

Muhammad Ali could have knocked out Floyd Patterson if he wanted to. He was merely toying with Patterson, beating him to the punch all night.

Anyway, in a fight between Patterson and Chris Byrd, I would favor Patterson. Byrd has a great defense, but Patterson would be too fast for him. Patterson was also very skilled. I believe Muhammad Ali once called him the best boxer he ever faced.

Floyd Patterson by UD.
