Promoter Lou DiBella inked former welter champ Ike Quartey (34-2-1, 29 KOs) last Friday. Quartey, who has been retired since 2000, will have a tuneup in Ghana then begin campaigning in the US.Quartey was one of the most feared welterweights in the game, and was WBA welterweight champ from 1994-97. But toward the end of his career he fought very sporadically, frustrated by some questionable decisions. His last fight was at junior middleweight for the IBF title.

DiBella said Quartey weighed in the upper 160s, but thinks he will come back at middleweight or junior middleweight.
