View Full Version : Riggs/Sanchez..
LHWchamp5 11-15-2006, 02:02 PM wow where do i start, first off congrats UFC finally a fight that makes sense..
Riggs - well rounded, great wrestler and strong athlete, infact i would give him this fight IF it was at 185..
The last few fights riggs fought @170lbs i feel he didnt' perform to the best of his ability infact after the diaz fight he stated himself it's really hard getting that low in weight.. Dont' know why he doest it, maybe a lack of confidence but he should deffinatly fight @185+ anyboyd see him KTSOO (knock the shit out of) kendal groves.. He smashed that kid @185 possibly 205..
IMO riggs has experience and more skill on his side however cardio could be his enemy in this one.. (riggs should win this fight at +185lbs)
Sanchez - proven himself to be quit the wrestler unfortunatly for him his takedowns are predictable.. IMO riggs is a bad match-up for sanchez however the weight class might just be the deciding factor for this fight..
what do you guys think?? riggs>sanchez??
Didn't know there where any other Riggs fans here.
This is going to be a great match. Riggs is indeed a great wreslter and so is Snachez, but Riggs hands are heads and shoulders above Sanchez, I feel that will be the deciding factor, as I really feel Riggs will be able to keep it standing more often then not when he feels inclined.
2swell k-wells 11-15-2006, 03:06 PM Sanchez will win this one with his awsome ground n pound game for tko. Riggs is a ok fighter with heavy hands but hasnt he been on a losing streak? Riggs knocked out Kendal Groves:s was this long ago or jus recently? I think that kid has a good chance in the middle weight division training with tito ortiz in big bear. But ya Sanchez proved that he can beat the best in the sport be defeating Nick Diaz and that Karo guy, i think he maybe champ in the near future.
Hughes, GSP, or Penn would all beat Sanchez, so I don't see him being the champ anytime soon.
Riggs has won 4 out of his last 6. He beat Diaz, Lytle among others. The 2 losses came to Hughes and Swick, so it's not like he is a shitty fighter.
2swell k-wells 11-15-2006, 03:23 PM no he's not a bad fighter...did i say he was a shitty fighter? I Dont Think So...Sanchez is a great fighter who is champion material. I remember Joe Riggs tried to fight Hughes, and it wasnt a good fight cause hughes finished him off pretty quickly in the 1st round. Sanchez beat Diaz long ago, and Riggs beating Lytle is really impressive now is it. Sanchez might get a title shot after this weekends ppv against the winner, Riggs had his chance and blew it...completely.
2swell k-wells 11-15-2006, 03:24 PM "Riggs beating Lytle ISNT really impressive: is what i meant to say.
living_legend 11-15-2006, 04:27 PM when are they fighting?
chisum1357 11-15-2006, 07:55 PM I agree that Riggs' hands are way better than Sanchezs', but honestly it seems that Riggs' ground game is better too. I mean Sanchez is awesome at ground and pound because of his quickness, but Riggs can work wonders off his back and he has more accuracy and power, he tends to make shots count when they really need to. I give this one to Riggs, and I would love to see the fight because I am a fan of Sanchez, but a bigger fan of Riggs.
I dont know why he is moving down in class again though, this might be a bad thing for him, I dont understand why Sanchez doesnt move up a class or atleast meet in the middle. Sanchez probably wants it like this because he knows Riggs is better as a middleweight, and he is better as a welterweight.
By the way, not to change subject, does anyone know what ever happened to Evan Tanner or Phil Baroni? I havent seen either of them in a long time, both were excellent fighters.
LHWchamp5 11-15-2006, 09:02 PM Exactly, riggs definatly has better stand-up and his ground game is way ahead of diego's with a GnP 10x better..
Riggs lost to hughes for the fact he was out classed and way to young.. It showed in the fight.. IMO riggs is gonna be diego's toughest challenge to date and if riggs comes prepared with a clear head he should smash diego(i wonder how good he is from his back).. Hopefully riggs gets the KO or TKO..
LHWchamp5 11-15-2006, 09:11 PM does anyone know what ever happened to Evan Tanner or Phil Baroni? I havent seen either of them in a long time, both were excellent fighters.
Baroni is fighting for pride thers rumors that him and frank shamrock are trying ot put a fight together...
tanner is on hyatis.. Rumor is he's binge drinking, broke and out of shape, but htats ok cause because it's said that UFC wants him ot fight A.silva. lol guess thats why they call them rumors..
E.Tanner in good condition maybe a few years ago would have given a.silva a good fight imo.. He was a great fighter when ufc turned its back and threw him to the up n commers. (terrell, lawler and more) he stood his ground and won decisively..
Baroni imo needs to find a pill thats good for cardio...
2swell k-wells 11-15-2006, 10:12 PM Diego Sanchez toughest opponent was Karo. Sanchez has always fought in the 170 pound division, i think it suits him well. Joe Riggs is a big tough guy and very good, cant take that away from him but Sanchez seems to have more heart and the WILL to win a fight. I think the only loss he will ever have is if he tried for the belt, hopefully that will be soon for this guy. Riggs has very awsome power punches but Sanchez has more technique to win this one, Sanchez will find a way to win no matter what.
chisum1357 11-15-2006, 10:30 PM What about when Diego fought that one guy, sorry I cant remember his name, but at the end of the fight he barely won and all he could do for defense was to receive a piggy back ride? His technique is awesome I will definatly give him that, but if he is put up against a fighter that knows how he fights and studies the same thing he does, the Sanchezs' odds of winning slim down significantly. He definatly does have the heart to win and prove something to himself, whereas Riggs seems to have something to prove to everyone else, maybe a little in himself, but otherwise why would he shift his weight class so much? He is best as a middle weight and I dont understand why he just doesnt stay there. Maybe he just wants a weird challenge.
living_legend 11-16-2006, 12:44 AM when is this fight going to happen?
2swell k-wells 11-16-2006, 01:51 AM If Sanchez dont have to WILL to win why is he still undefeated. ya his 1st fights were easy but he's moving up now and still winning against the best in the ufc.
the_fusionist 11-16-2006, 04:47 AM wow where do i start, first off congrats UFC finally a fight that makes sense..
IMO riggs is a bad match-up for sanchez however the weight class might just be the deciding factor for this fight..
what do you guys think?? riggs>sanchez??
YOU ARE MR. SENSIBLE.:ugh:
the_fusionist 11-16-2006, 04:58 AM Riggs is moving down in class because he can't compete with the 185's. He thinks, like all the other weight droppers, that he can dominate the smaller guys. He will not beat Sanchez. Sanchez isn't the type of fighter that is predictable. That clown will fight anyway anyhow. He has the heart of a fish fighting for its last breath.
DECEMBER 13 ON ****E TV
LHWchamp5 11-16-2006, 10:29 AM Lets say diego gets by riggs, i still don't think he's close to getting a title shot. hughes/gsp this weekend then tuf 4 winner gets a title shot probablly in 4-6mnths IMO diego or riggs will have to beat one of the top 3 (hughes, penn, gsp depending on who isnt' holding the belt.) to EARN a title shot.. either way probablly be 9mnths to a year b4 either sees a title shot depending on wins so lets hope both fighters get to face top 3guys in that time..
No point of having 2 undeserving fighters fight one another for a title shot..
This is what i hate about the UFC look at lhw division.. babalu#2 fights chuck#1 babalu loses imo remains at #2 tito#3 comes in beats up ken shamrock(not even ranked) twice then beats up griffin#5/6 and now gets title shot without fighting #2 guy..
Kinda like WW hughes#1 is fighting gsp#2 (makes sense), diego and riggs are around #4/5maybe#6 so to have these 2 guys fight for number one contender status does not make sense..
P.S i know penn is going down to LW but he istn' there yet so i'll stick with how it is.
living_legend 11-16-2006, 08:35 PM where do ya get your up to date info on the ufc at? ....pm me sites....appreciate it fellas....
the_fusionist 11-17-2006, 03:20 AM Why would Penn move down in weight class, he still has unfinished business with Hughes. I demand a 3rd bout!
