Hello to everybody that remembers me. Haven't been online much at all, obviously. Only able to get on Boxingscene about 25% of the time anyhow from home.

School has kept me extremely busy and I just haven't had the energy to post on these forums on a regular basis yet. Glad to see a lot of people loved talking bad about me after I was gone. One even went so far as to put my old avatar on as his own. Thanks to the haters. You kept me alive while I was away.

Any time you insult someone you hate, you just put a quarter in their immortal meter.

Anyhow, I am in the process of making my first film. I'm wearing basically all the hats except for acting, including writing, directing, producing, and editing. I could've joined a group in class, but I'm a control freak. Wanted to be in complete control, so I requested to work alone. Found that I'm somewhat capable of the task so far. Already got a professional makeup artist, professional choreographer, two aspiring artists for my storyboards, and a plethora of people willing to act. One of my actors is a former professional. He was actually in some little films and is listed on IMDB.com (Patrick McCord for those that care). Got my locations pretty much locked in for filming.

My film is about boxing. Shocking eh? But it will be a tale that I do not believe has been told. I should finish writing it this week, film over the next two weeks and it'll be completed by late November, early December at the latest. I don't want to give away too much about the plot yet. After I finish the script, I'll reveal more.

Anybody interested, once I am finished, I will gladly send a copy of my film to you. I'll charge like $2.50. That covers shipping and blank DVD cost. The DVD will include the movie, maybe a trailer, maybe audio commentary, we'll see. It'll definitely be worth $2.50 for boxing fans. Not selling it to make money, lol. Not for $2.50. Just covering my costs.

Okay guys, I'll try typing a little more often now. Most will probably hate that, but oh well. Get over it, lol.

Oh, the second installment of the Fighting Spirit DVD episodes are released in the US on Tuesday! Go join Netflix for the free trial and rent it! Then cancel if you want. But get Fighting Spirit discs 1 and 2. It's 10 episodes. WELL worth seeing for any boxing fan. It's anime, yes, which I don't like usually, but this was actually good. From the maker of Trigun for those that like Anime, so you know it's good.

Why did people hate him again?
Because they thought he was "zabkillsspinks".

people hated me too but I don't know why. I think it mainly has to do with me being so brutally honest. Zabkillsspinks was less refined than myself. We shared a rather large amount of views, but definitely not the same person. Nor is he an alter ego.

Our IP addresses matched up b/c I logged onto his account (at his request) to put up his Zab Judah avatar. Thus, both our IP addresses were listed under his account logins and I got banned as well. I explained this to Rick Reeno and he let me back in.

I was shocked and pissed that I got banned b/c I had been thinking I was on the verge of becoming a super member. Back then I posted all the time and most of my posts were lengthy, thought out messages.

Yeah, definitely had plenty of heated arguments. I called people I didn't like names, but I never started anything.

Well, another day finished.

Any money spent on this movie comes directly from my pocket. And I'm not counting gas or anything but things I have to go to the store and buy.

So far, the D is -$53. Bought 3 clamp lights, 6 different pairs of basketball shorts (for boxing trunks), kayro syrup, red food coloring, and a couple VHS-C tapes to film my locations tomorrow.

Probably at least -$100 by the time this is over. Still have to buy the mini DV tapes. And if I have to buy mouthpieces, no telling how expensive that could get.

Winter

It sounds very exciting to me. I have a strong feeling it will be a success for you.

DamienFromTheAshes
10-16-2004, 03:27 AM
Well, still desperately NEED to finish the script. Still only on page 1, although I'm further along than it seems (have more in my head than on paper or screen yet).

This guy from Cali I emailed about selling me some discount mouthpieces and gloves is going to send me free mouthpieces and gloves, which is huge relief for me.

And I don't want to build it up, seriously doubt it will happen, but there is an outside chance that Mr. T (Clubber Lang in Rocky 3) could make an appearance in my movie. He lives in the state above me and one of my actors has a great uncle who is friends with Mr. T and sees him occassionally.

I'd love it if I could have Mr. T in the movie for numerous, hopefully obvious reasons. He's way too large and old to play a middleweight boxer, but I could easily make him my main character's trainer/manager. Could also cast him as an evil promoter. But, I'm not going to count on that happening, b/c it most likely won't.

I NEED to get the script fully completed this weekend. I have one ring secured for shooting, the gym ring. Now I'm hoping to secure the wrestling ring location tomorrow (it'd be used as a boxing ring in my movie of course).

Then this coming week, I will get the film storyboarded, get my two main actors to learn the stage/film combat they need, learn the makeup, get about 3-4 more actors and I'll be all ready to begin shooting.

I could see filming to last for a maximum of four, maybe 5 days, but I know what I want to shoot pretty much and I don't want to take more than 5 days to do it.

If anybody has a camera that takes MiniDV tapes that they'd be willing to let me borrow/have, I would be MOST thankful to them and would definitely give them a huge credit and a copy of the DVD. And I'd hook them up with some fights too. I have access to a rather large collection of fights.

Anybody wanting to help me, PLEASE do so. For the love of boxing if nothing else.

Sounds interesting. You have real aspirations.
Im an art student working with video and film. I shoot everything with a minidv, but theyre not mine, the college lends them out.
Im in my final year of a degree, so i have to produce somthing quite impressive.
I dont work work with actors, just shoot things that are symbolic or represent a theme im working with.
Good luck, i may want a copy of the final product.

Well, got a big punch below the belt. The damn wrestling ring people wanted $250 to shoot for 1 hour. Damn rednecks. They'll be out of business in less than a year anyhow.

I had just sort of counted on getting that location. Been scrambling to find another location and there really isn't another one very close. Looks like every single match will be in the same ring. And it will be near impossible to get that gym to look like an arena.

Guess I'll have to be tricky with the camera. I have a couple ideas as to how I could fake a crowd, but with my equipment and abilities, it'd be obvious.

I knew something was coming, didn't know what. Oh well. Have to work with what I've got.

"Your much nicer and level headed now that you want help "
lol, duh. Of course. I'm no idiot. I know how to play the game.
Only times I get mean anyhow are when I'm arguing with people, mostly about boxing. Or if people like Asian try starting crap.

For anybody wanting a copy of the movie, it'll cost a little b/c I'm not rich. Just costs $1.26 for shipping and say $1.25 for the cost of the blank DVD and case. So 2.50 total each. If I can get some cheap DVD cases maybe even like $2.25 each. I'm not selling these for profit, clearly.

Movie isn't even in production yet, so I'm not worried about showing it just yet. I hope to have at least the movie, a trailer, and hopefully audio commentary with me and some (if not all) of the cast. A "making of" thing would be fun, but I wouldn't have time or enough cameras for that.

Well, off to work on the script. Hope to finish it tonight or early tomorrow.

Congrats, Garrett. You seem excited about coming here. Errr...great news for you. Wouldn't be surprised if you're clamoring to go back soon though, lol. I've befriended a few people not from here that came here and wanted to go back home. Of course, it could be partially home sickness.

Just got this guy from TitleBoxing.com that might send me a belt to use in filming. That would be absolutely wonderful news.

Also, got a good sound/lighting guy who did both sound and lighting for my one-act in the Spring. And it is saying A LOT for someone to work both sound and lighting in a play at the same time. And he nailed it perfectly.

Gotta keep moving. Later.

Never started anything?? :p I can remember a couple of times!!

Such as?

Really got into writing the script last night. Just couldn't quit writing. Some things will have to be cut for time and because it was starting to get a bit preachy about boxing. Too much talk.

Script should've already been finished, but now it looks like it'll be Thursday before I finish it. And filming of course has been pushed back until next week. But I feel very confident that I can get almost all, if not all, filming completed next week.

Only trick in editing is getting my main actor to come back to do some voice over work. Should be no problem though.

Oh, the guy from Title Boxing is sending me the belt for my film. The agreement was that I'd put a huge credit at the end of my film and send him a DVD copy after I'm finished, which I want to do anyhow.

Okay, that's it for today.

Latest news:

Bought a 3 chip Professional video camera for $920. Actually a very good deal for all I got. 3 good lenses, some tapes, a really good battery and rapid charger, a couple other things.

So now I'm really in money trouble, but all will pay off in the end.

My actors get their first lesson tomorrow in screen fighting. I also get a crash course in makeup. My gloves may arrive today or tomorrow. Belt probably arrives next week.

This movie had better be good now. Put too much money into it to allow it to suck.

Oh, wouldn't it be something if the Red Sox went against the Astros? It'd be Kerry's team vs. Bush's. Go Sox!
Although I wanted the Yankees to win.
Which really I wanted the Barry Bonds team to win but oh well.

Serves Yankees right for trading Soriano for f'n A-Rod. And they need to get rid of Kenny "haven't been good since 96" Lofton.

Should get my camera today. Still not finished with the script, but I'm in the last few pages of it, already know what I want to do with it. Hopefully I'll get the belt and gloves and all too.

Plan to start shooting friday.

I know how to do the makeup now. DIdn't get the screen fighting stuff in, but hopefully that'll happen Wednesday.

After much thought, I will most likely have 2 versions of my film. The only real difference will be in the music. For the student film, I'll use licensed music, but for the movie itself, the one I sent to film festivals, I'll use royalty free music, unless I find out I can do the other for free from some loophole.

Production has been pushed back to November 15th because I am working on sound for my school's play and because my main actor is also in the play, so he is at rehearsal everynight.

It is okay though. This gives me the proper time I need to gather everything, get things storyboarded, and get shooting to run rather smoothly.

I still have to type up the script as well. I haven't actually written down the last 2 scenes, but they are fully in my head, just a matter of transferring them to paper.

Probably won't be on again until Monday. Later.

student film for my university, but it's become bigger than that. It is a boxing film and it should be pretty good.

that's all I'll say for now on it. I'll send anybody a copy who wants one as long as they pay minimal costs of dvd and shipping, which is like 2-2.50 max.

not trying to profit...yet. trying to get my name out there, get my film out there, then I'll make money.

using this as sort of a log of my progress. not too concerned with what others put on this.

of course people don't care before the film is actually even in production, let alone completed. and there's nothing saying the film will turn out to be any good. I could put all this time into this movie and it could still suck, I realize that. I accept that.

At least I'll learn from it, regardless. Like Billy Conn said...j/k, nevermind...
